Hurghada Egypt
After our three days in Cairo we headed over to Hurghada. Hurghada has grown from a small fishing village to one of the largest resort destinations along the Red Sea coast. More than one million tourists visit the city each year.
It is a five hour drive for Cairo. We rented a large van and a driver to take us there.
Our resort of choice was Pickalbatros Jungle Aqua Park. It was a massive all inclusive resort with numerous restaurants, many pools and the real attraction, water slides. Over a dozen water slides. We were in kid heaven. Oh and rides.. I forgot to mention carnival rides.
My little brother with my two boys and his two boys.
How many men does it take to open an umbrella?
The bumper cars were a favorite. Unlike in the States where you aren't really supposed to hit people in other cars here we were rule free.. and ramming into family members was thrilling. We usually got in line just when the rides opened, before the lines, and we were able to ride multiple times before dinner.
There were a few things I missed from our experience on the Caribbean islands.. mainly pool side service. Also there was no concept of drinks.. I'm not talking about the alcohol variety.. we don't drink. I mean the virgin pina colada' and daiquiris' instead of just juice out of a box or sodas. There was no music playing by the pools.. no water aerobics (not that I participate but it's fun to watch) in the mornings. The food was fine.. but they had no concept of allergies either.
Despite the differences we had a wonderful time. D hadn't been allowed to go into any type of water minus showers of course for over a year so it was wonderful to see him have fun again.
Beautiful photos. ❤️ Looks like a wonderful time. I especially love the water.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone had a lot of fun including the adults. You and your younger brother resemble each other in features.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
That sucks about the poolside service! I just got back from Marmaris and they sea side services were good and they had mocktails. One place even went out to get oat milk for me!

What a fun family trip! I'm so glad D was able to enjoy the water park this year.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad D had fun again! And it had to be great for everyone -- seeing family for you and the cousins for the boys. It looks like a terrfiic time!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like so much fun - I would love to visit there one day!
ReplyDeleteEveryone looks like they are having so much fun. Cousin time is precious and they will always remember these kind of vacations. We used to do outerbanks with extended family and the kids talk about it all the time.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I bet the kids were in heaven!
ReplyDeleteFUN!!! I can tell everyone is having FUN and I love that. :-)
ReplyDeleteHurghada looks amazing, it sounds like you all had a fantastic time with the family. The photo of the boys on the ride is just brilliant, you can see how much fun they're having. It's so good that D was able to enjoy the water again, that's what makes a trip truly special. I just shared a new post.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful time. I'm happy you all enjoyed yourselves!
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun!
ReplyDeleteThat resort must have been heaven for the kids! xxx
ReplyDeleteYou all had a great time together!
ReplyDeleteThis all looks like such fun!! I guess it's been a long time since I "did" bumper cars. When did it become a rule not to ram into others?? I thought that was the whole purpose!
ReplyDeleteOverall it sounds so fun for the kiddos!
ReplyDeleteFrom the photos, looks like you all had a blast, Hurghada looks like a perfect place for a family trip. It's so much fun when the kids can just run around and be kids. That picture of all the boys is so sweet.
ReplyDeleteI just shared a new post, you are invited to read. Thank you.
Just from the pics, you can tell the kids had fun! Yay that D was able to enjoy the park:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lot of fun with good memories being made
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a fun resort. I bet the kids really enjoyed themselves.

What a beautiful resort and it looks like the cousins are having a great time together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun resort for the whole family. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a great day and happy week ahead.
Bumper cars were a favorite amusement ride for us when we were growing up. Needless to say, it's been years since we've had the pleasure. I did not in the US, that bumping into others is not allowed. That really takes away from the fun. After all isn't that point? lol Of course as youngsters, we wouldn't slam into just into anyone but friends or family enjoying the ride, too. It looks like y'all had a lot of fun in the photos which is nice to see. :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing ... from a fishing village to this. Haha ... good one about men and the umbrella and nice to see siblings and cousins enjoying vacations together. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great trip you had!
ReplyDeleteLooks like such a fun place to visit with kids especially!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had another amazing trip and experience. Just from these photos alone, I see what you mean about there being lots of activities. :) Thanks for visiting my list.
ReplyDeleteThat looked like such a fun, family friendly resort. The kids must have had a blast, it sure looked that way!
ReplyDeleteLooks like this was (despite the lack of poolside service) such a fun time for both the kids and adults!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun vacation! Wow, you travel a lot!
ReplyDeleteWOW that's a great place and nice photos, enjoy your time.
ReplyDeleteI like having pool service with fun drinks at a resort, too. Other than that it looks like a fun place for all! Love waterslides.
ReplyDeleteOh wow that looks like a wonderful big place, with a lot to keep you busy, glad you had a great time and so fun to be with family too :)
ReplyDeleteWow...amazing pics.. looks like you guys had a great time :-)

My kids would’ve loved that too! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI am passionate about the history of Ancient Egypt, but I was surprised by this resort! From the photos, the boys had a lot of fun!
Have a great week!
Now, this sounds like great fun. Reminds me of summer at the Jersey Shore.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like y'all had a fun trip!
ReplyDeletejust know about Hurghada Egypt after reading your post....
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing beautiful photos....
WoW!!! awesome pictures and what a wonderful trip!! i love seeing your family all celebrating together. the umbrella image was the money shot!! now, i have a question, i read it twice...is that your son in the red shorts, with the mustache??
ReplyDeleteThe resort does sound nice, and it looks like you and family had a good time even though there were a few missing amenities.
ReplyDeleteWow.

What an amazing resort! Looks like so much fun. I live in the US and we smash into each other on bumper car rides all the time. It must be an east coast thing where you're not allowed to do that.
ReplyDeleteFun trip. My mom was very interested in the Egyptian culture. One day in her 70's she said, "I want to go to Egypt".......and she did! That strawberry table and chairs is delightful.

My niece and nephew would love this for the water park itself! Although the bit about food allergies could be a problem since my nephew is allergic to eggs. Looks like a blast. Egypt is on my bucket list although I'll probably never get to go. My stepdad used to go all the time for work when I was in college, but I could never get him to take me because he said he was worried to leave me alone while he was working. Oh well, maybe some day! Thanks so much for sharing your pictures!
