Friday Photography

Just a Dash of Pink - Every year around the end of March till the mid of April Washington DC is pretty in pink. Everywhere you go you see these beautiful cherry blossoms in bloom. These trees were in fact a gift from the Japanese back in 1912. When I saw these blossoms they were so delicate I wanted that to come across in the image. The photograph had many flowers, pink petals everywhere but the emphasis on just how soft and light these petal were wasn't coming through to my liking. Hence, I thought the method of selective coloring would do it better justice. You can buy this print here . Get Free Shipping with code BLOGGER Prints also available in larger sizes. Lately

This week.. well at least the early parts of it were finally t-shirt and flip flop warm. : ) And when April rolls around our little town becomes cherry blossom central.. so D and I had a little impromptu picnic in the park after school one day.. Another cherry blossom post  featuring a chubbier, less toothy D. We had a tantrum filled Wednesday and after so much crying and me trying to stay strong and firm we ended up with an afternoon of ice cream without lunch, ducks at the pond and a trip to the local pet store where D pretended he was a parrot.  On the eleventh we had an incident of D barricading himself in the bathroom making us almost late for school and completely forgetting about Picture Day! His first : )  Friday we took the train into New York to meet M after his Epi LASIK surgery.. successful thank god! So we've had a weekend of dark shades and eye drops.  Today M continue's his recovery.. D has his last swim class of the ye...

Some Blossoms and Mother's Day

Image
I just celebrated my first Mother's Day. D is almost 11 months old and I can't believe that this time last year he was the little guy kicking me on the inside.. now he kicks on the outside. I didn't expect much of the day and we didn't do anything special. We just spent the day at home. We woke up at the crack of dawn as usual..because that is the time D has decided is morning. We ran errands and tried and failed at finishing the never ending list of chores. We went for a drive, it was a glorious warm sunny day and just happened to drive by a park with swings. We just had to stop. D hadn't experienced the joy of a swing yet and I crossed my fingers hoping he would love a swing a much a I do. M was more skeptical. We gave the swing a little push and D was wide eyed in surprise, we followed with another small hesitant push and D erupted in laughter. He squealed with joy making me reciprocating his joy with a squeal of my own. It was in that moment, seeing his face...

Spring is Blooming Around Me

Image
A few years ago we, along with some friends had driven to Washington to see the Cherry Blossoms only to find out that there were a large number of gorgeous cherry blossoms blooming in our own town. We were new to the area and hadn't made our way over to that part of the town yet. We moved to a new location within the same town.. and boy what a difference those 5 miles made. We discovered that just a 10 minute walk away in Branch Brook Park there are now over 4,000 Cherry Blossom trees of many different varieties which bloom over an extended period in the park. There are an additional thousand beautiful blossoming trees growing along the streets of town. It turns out the my little town of Belleville, New Jersey is a premier location for viewing Cherry Blossoms. When we finally had a day of no rain I decided to take D out for a walk. He was more than thrilled at the idea of getting out of the house. I also took this as an opportunity to dust of my camera and take a few pi...
