Birthday Weekend

Image
We are finally done with all our Costa Rican travel posts, which I hope you enjoyed and are now in current time.   The week before last M and I celebrated our birthdays. It was in the middle of the week so we didn't really do much but we had big plans for the weekend.  At what point do we get to blow out our own candles? Actually we have stopped doing candles. Never realized, before Covid, how gross it actually is. But this was just the four of us so we did.. for old times sake.  On Saturday we headed into the city in the afternoon. It turned out to be a beautiful day. I had spotted these viral hot chocolates on Instagram and wanted to try them. We found a small line outside the store, a couple minutes long. M and I shared an original, hot chocolate with a circle of roasted marshmallow fluff and a scoop of some more creamy deliciousness. While they kids chose an Oreo topping. They were very good and decadent. We walked while we sipped. To Central Park and down to the Met.  Then we

Birthday Celebrations

Last week M and I both got a year older..  We started celebrating over the weekend. We went out to dinner at Deal Lake Co & Bar. Great vibe, killer playlist and melt in your mouth burgers.   Afterwards we went to go watch the play Clue at our local theatre in Spring Lake. It was very enjoyable. And nothing ends a night better then some ice cream. We went to the nearby Hoffman's Ice Cream and they had such a great flavor selection, my salted caramel pretzel was excellent.  On my actual birthday I picked up my free birthday Starbucks and wandered the aisles of Target in between running errands and cooking and all that other adult stuff. and M brought home some of Melissa's bite sized cupcakes. The next morning, after the last child had gotten on the bus I put on my sparkle boots (birthday present) and M and I went out for breakfast. We talked about making this a monthly thing..  Then later in the week we went out to one of our favorite local restaurants, 618. The mocktails we

A Belated Birthday Celebration

M and I both had birthdays in early February.. and while we didn't get a chance to do anything then we made a point to celebrate when we did have the time. We started this tradition a year or two ago.. I met M in New York City when he got off work.. we had dinner at Obao.. which was incredible. and then went to go see Little Shop of Horrors at the Westside Theater.  It was a good show.. but we have seen better. I had posted about some of the shows we have seen a few years ago.. you can check it out here .  The next morning we had breakfast at The Smith. We caught up with my cousin who moved to the city a few months ago for school.  It was a beautiful day and we took our time walking back to the bus station.. to head back home.                        Etsy             Instagram             Twitter             Bloglovin

A Mini Golf Birthday Bash

Image
My not so little D turned 8 last week. He wanted to have a mini golf birthday party. The closest mini golf place was about 30 minutes away from our place.. I worried people were not going to want to make the 30 minute plus drive. It was in the end of June so I worried about the heat. We booked an evening time for the party.. the mini golf place called SwingTime offered us a mini golf and arcade package. They would order the food.. provide popcorn and drinks.. I sent out the invitations using Paperless Post . I have mentioned them before on the blog and this is my third time using them to send out invites and I love how seamless the process is, how cute the cards are. As usual waiting for the RSVP's is the most watching water come to a boil type job.. but surprisingly this time people replied quickly.. but that wasn't necessarily a good thing since all the replies where regrets. Most people had immediate vacation plans :( The favors were a golf club and ball along
