Birthday Post

H's 20 question post was a little belated. Things have been busy and with all the travel posts.. I have more by the way I lost track of time and his January birthday post ended up in February.  February is also a birthday month. M and I celebrated our birthdays, mine on Thursday and his on Friday. For a person who cares little about sports except maybe hockey, the weekend involved a lot of sports, a surprise and Squid Games. on Thursday night we went out for some Portuguese food. and celebrated with some brownie a la mode.  and then came home and worked on a puzzle while watching Landman. Have you seen it?  On Friday.. M's birthday we headed to the city for a Rangers (hockey) game. It was a nail biter but unfortunately we lost. It was still a good time.  On Saturday we headed back to New York for a Knicks vs Celtics game. The Celtics decimated the Knicks.. it was hard to watch.  But our Celtics loving H was very happy. There were many many Celtics fans at the ga...

A Graduation and a Birthday

Image
Good morning everyone.. how was your week? Ours was busy.   On Tuesday the eldest graduated middle school. They had a really nice ceremony.. similar to a high school or college graduation, heavy on the pomp and circumstance.  We celebrated the event with dinner at K-Pot a Korean BBQ place at the graduates request.  Then on Sunday he turned 14. He had a friend over on Saturday night.. we cut a cake and the boys played endless video games.  On the day of his actual birthday we made french toast.. the boys continued to play into the afternoon. Sadly it was in the 90's and with a heat advisory in effect they were relegated to staying indoors.  In the late afternoon we dropped off D's friend and picked up his cousin and headed to an escape room. We completed it with 15 minutes to spare! We ended the night with stuffed shells and garlic bread - as requested by the birthday boy and leftover cake. Yum               ...

Birthday Weekend

Image
We are finally done with all our Costa Rican travel posts, which I hope you enjoyed and are now in current time.   The week before last M and I celebrated our birthdays. It was in the middle of the week so we didn't really do much but we had big plans for the weekend.  At what point do we get to blow out our own candles? Actually we have stopped doing candles. Never realized, before Covid, how gross it actually is. But this was just the four of us so we did.. for old times sake.  On Saturday we headed into the city in the afternoon. It turned out to be a beautiful day. I had spotted these viral hot chocolates on Instagram and wanted to try them. We found a small line outside the store, a couple minutes long. M and I shared an original, hot chocolate with a circle of roasted marshmallow fluff and a scoop of some more creamy deliciousness. While they kids chose an Oreo topping. They were very good and decadent. We walked while we sipped. To Central Park and down to the Met....

Birthday Celebrations

Last week M and I both got a year older..  We started celebrating over the weekend. We went out to dinner at Deal Lake Co & Bar. Great vibe, killer playlist and melt in your mouth burgers.   Afterwards we went to go watch the play Clue at our local theatre in Spring Lake. It was very enjoyable. And nothing ends a night better then some ice cream. We went to the nearby Hoffman's Ice Cream and they had such a great flavor selection, my salted caramel pretzel was excellent.  On my actual birthday I picked up my free birthday Starbucks and wandered the aisles of Target in between running errands and cooking and all that other adult stuff. and M brought home some of Melissa's bite sized cupcakes. The next morning, after the last child had gotten on the bus I put on my sparkle boots (birthday present) and M and I went out for breakfast. We talked about making this a monthly thing..  Then later in the week we went out to one of our favorite local restaurants, 618. The m...
