We have been busy.. and I have very few pictures to show for it.  To begin.. the Rangers lost in the semi finals.. and I have a house full of disappointed boys. :(     My cousin graduated med school last week. She is originally from California so my aunt and uncle flew out for the big day.. my great aunt and uncle also joined in the festivities from Pennsylvania. We had dinner with the family in New York and then later in the week they all came to my house and we had a lovely (take out) dinner together. I especially enjoy watching my kids connect with our more distant relatives.  We also had a BBQ with some friends we hadn't met in over four years and reconnected like no time had passed. That I feel is the sign of a good friendship.   This weekend the boys were both staying at a friends house so M and I went out for burgers and then again out for breakfast. I don't think not having the kids in the house changed things much except that it was much quie...

Where do I even begin? The weather has been awful, cold, gray and rainy on more days than I care for. Turns out we haven't had a rain free weekend since March 2nd!  We have just over a month of school left. I am ready for summer. It is getting harder and harder to wake up with that darn alarm every morning. But getting closer to end of year also means D graduating middle school and all the festivities that go with it. They already had their field trip to Philadelphia, second week of June the graduating class will be having a massive pool party, there is the dance which D is adamant about not attending and then of course graduation!  But it's not all fun and games.. he also has some big end of year projects he is working on. One of which I think might interest you.  He is working on a book report per se. He read the book Legend by Marie Lu . For his project he has to break down the books six most significant moments and give them a soundtrack. Yes you read that right.. pro...

Candytopia

Image
We had tickets to a Rangers game this weekend.. we thought of going into the city a few hours earlier and spend some time there before the game.  We didn't want to wander too far away from that area so I found a candy themed exhibition a block away called Candytopia.  There were timed tickets you had to buy online and we were escorted in as a group. Just like in Legoland.. here everything was made out of candy. As you can see below, it took 13,000 pieces of candy and 48 hours to make this little fox. and they finished it all off with a marshmallow ball pit.  Not to mention all the free candy they got in every room, this is only some.. much of it was eaten. Afterwards we went to Madison Square Garden to watch the Rangers crush the Penguin in a 6-0 game. You can check out my Instagram for all our Rangers videos here.   Sunday was spent doing a lot of nothing..            Etsy             Instagram   ...

Rangers and Summit One

Image
Late January M got some Ranger's tickets.. we really look forward to these and hadn't been back since Covid so were super excited. The game starts at 8pm so we decided to head into the city a little earlier and make a day out of it.  We got to New York around four so our first stop was Grand Central Station. We needed to get some coffee.. does anyone else experience a sourness in coffee? M and I have experienced it multiple times where the coffee has a sour taste and we can't tell if it's us. Anyway.. we drank our sour coffee and wandered around, sad to see so many shops closed. But really enjoyed their market.  Next we had gotten tickets for Summit One at Vanderbilt. Our tickets were for just after dusk and it was the most perfect breathtaking experience. Pictures do not do justice. Speaking of pictures..  WARNING OLD PERSON RANT COMING - I love my phone but the need to take pictures of everything for social media has ruined the experience of just enjoying the stunning...

lately - Thanksgiving Edition

Image
Happy December everyone.. yup we say it every year and so I'll say it again.. how is it December already?? Seriously! We had a fantastic Thanksgiving.. it was very nontraditional.. there was no turkey or pie but there was a lot of fun. We started off Wednesday with a Rangers vs Hurricanes hockey game. M gets these amazing club seat tickets from work every year and we all look forward to going every year. And the fact that the Rangers won 3-2 was just the icing on the cake. We arrived in the city a few hours in advance and wandered around for a bit.. and spotted this big fella in a store. On Thanksgiving Day we headed to Staten Island to the Lantern Festival.. we had been to one before  many years ago in Montreal  when D was little. It was absolutely beautiful..  On Friday we had tickets to see Sponge Bob the Musical at the NJ State Theater. But before the show we stopped at our favorite hot dog place, Destination Dogs. I had the ...
