Hurghada Egypt
After our three days in Cairo we headed over to Hurghada. Hurghada has grown from a small fishing village to one of the largest resort destinations along the Red Sea coast. More than one million tourists visit the city each year.
It is a five hour drive for Cairo. We rented a large van and a driver to take us there.
Our resort of choice was Pickalbatros Jungle Aqua Park. It was a massive all inclusive resort with numerous restaurants, many pools and the real attraction, water slides. Over a dozen water slides. We were in kid heaven. Oh and rides.. I forgot to mention carnival rides.
My little brother with my two boys and his two boys.
How many men does it take to open an umbrella?
The bumper cars were a favorite. Unlike in the States where you aren't really supposed to hit people in other cars here we were rule free.. and ramming into family members was thrilling. We usually got in line just when the rides opened, before the lines, and we were able to ride multiple times before dinner.
There were a few things I missed from our experience on the Caribbean islands.. mainly pool side service. Also there was no concept of drinks.. I'm not talking about the alcohol variety.. we don't drink. I mean the virgin pina colada' and daiquiris' instead of just juice out of a box or sodas. There was no music playing by the pools.. no water aerobics (not that I participate but it's fun to watch) in the mornings. The food was fine.. but they had no concept of allergies either.
Despite the differences we had a wonderful time. D hadn't been allowed to go into any type of water minus showers of course for over a year so it was wonderful to see him have fun again.
