Istanbul: Day Three

Image
We had about half a day left in Istanbul before our flight.. and we had some visitors. We were staying at the Hotel Armada in the Sultanahmet area.. it was the perfect choice. Everyone was so nice.. you can always tell by the way they treat your child. The rooms, the ambiance.. everything just right. But the best part of it all.. the breakfast. Delectable. Squeeze your own orange juice. and the view of the Bosphorous and before I forget.. our not so surprise visitors. The Honeymooners! no I am not the weird sister in law who crashes her brothers honeymoon. The couple was so tired after planning the wedding that they came to me to plan the honeymoon.. I was already going to Turkey so my brother jumped on the Turkey bandwagon except his trip included Cappadocia and Antalya while we had to go home :(   oh and did i mention the other stunning view from our hotel.. The Blue Mosque The hotel also featured turtles Vintage wooden bird cages And a

Skip Ahead to the Fourth

Image
M didn't arrive till the early morning of the 3rd event. So all the photo taking responsibilities were on me, plus the motherly duties and the sisterly duties and the daughterly duties.. you can imagine the rest.. so the thing I let slide unfortunately was the picture taking. So I have no documentation of what I wore on either of the two events.. :( So we'll skip right over to the fourth event. It was the brides event.. so we got to play guest.  M and I - recalling the days of our wedding photo shoots. D sandwiches between my mother in law and myself.  D is so over the picture talking..  the family :) Get my post directly in you inbox with  Bloglovin I am now also offering ad space.  See  Sponsors  for more information .  Newsletter Sign Up - Let's Stay Connected, Shall We?

The Perfect Weekend

Image
I had already hinted at some relazing weekend plans in my last post.. well here's what we did. We drove to upstate New York in the Finger Lakes area just outside of Rochester to a spa and resort. It was a weekend of lounging by and in the pool, getting a fantastic couples massage, sleeping in late and napping on whim and the great food. An especially elaborate Sunday brunch.. and just enjoying the great weather and sun. I'm hoping all of you also had a great weekend.. and as if the weekend wasn't perfect already I also celebrated my one year Etsyversary ending the year with 15 sales. To me, that in no way is a bad number... I have managed to cover my start up costs and have started to make a profit. During this year I have sold images small, big and very big. I have had custom orders and have learned quite a lot during this year. So a big thanks to all of you out there who have visited my shop, who have liked my work and left kind comments, those who have bought my work

Happy Long Weekend!

Image
I know! I know! It's not the weekend yet but it's just a day away.. and Friday is a half day anyway.. and I intend on enjoying this weekend the second it starts. Which hopefully be this time tomorrow. Why so much enthusiasm for this particular long weekend.. well this is officially our last long weekend before baby arrives.. we could get the 4th of July weekend.. but that will be just too late and I think relaxing will be the last thing on my mind then and will be thinking more along the lines of how do I get this baby out! Our plans for this weekend.. well lets just say its all about relaxing. I'll give you the deets in next weeks post. And to all of you out there lucky enough to get a long weekend, enjoy! Get out and bar.b.que, take in the sun and let everything else just melt away. In the last week I have been lucky enough to be in three wonderful treasuries all deserving of your clicks: Secret Garden Meet Me There and  I am the Light of the World I have also li

The not so good news

Had a doctor's appointment today, was going to find out if I passed my glucose test or not.. well drum roll please... I Failed! Did not expect that. I am not over weight, I have not gained to much baby weight, have no family history of diabetes etc.. so I was shocked. Now I have to follow a diet plan and no sweets! That is going to be so hard.. sweets are my achilles heel and I was quite anti sweets early in my pregnancy and even that struck me as odd.. also have to cut back on my fruit intake.. I love fruit! The next few months are not going to be easy.. but what scares me more is that fact that I have a greater chance of having gestational diabetes in any other pregnancies I may have as well as the chance of becoming diabetic 5-10 years down the line. Not stressing out.. I will not stress out.. deep breaths.. hehe hoho.. In better news.. the nursery has been painted..and it looks wonderful.. can't wait to start getting in some furniture and cute baby accessories. Also hav

Rain and Gloom

Never been this happy about the beginning of Monday.. really.. yesterday had just been about counting down the hours till the day would finally end. Hubby has been working long hours.. even if it is from home so weekends hardly seem like weekends but that wasn't it. March is like that every year, yesterday was different, I woke up with a sadness and tears. The sadness then became paranoia. I was convinced the baby wasn't kicking enough so I kept having M (hubby) press his ear against my stomach to make sure he could hear a heart beat. And so went on the never ending Sunday. The days leading up to that Sunday were all in all pretty nice. Sure M was still busy with work but I made a sale Chug a chug chug wohoo! I was also participating in a blog giveaway where Gail Cormier won a 4x6 photograph of mine. She chose Just a dash of pink And lucky me but I too turned out to be a winner in the giveaway. I won a wallet courtesy of RobinsFlight which I will post more about as soo

The sun is here.. or so i thought

We had three wonderful days of sun and warmth and then just like that the clouds came rolling in and rain came pouring down. Hubby is having a crazy month at work.. so he comes home late which I hate but only a few more days left.. The weekend was pretty much a blur so on Sunday afternoon I decided to go into the city and meet him after work.. but with train problems making it the longest train ride ever! Afternoon became evening and the sun disappeared and a chilly wind picked up.. what was supposed to be an afternoon spent in central park turned out to be snuggling together as we walked to the wonderful Chilly Thai. It is a narrow hallway sized resturaunt serving delish thai food.. And here we are in the middle of another week just waiting for the weekend again. As for today, I had a glucose test where you drink this sweet drink and sit there for an hour afterwhich they draw blood.. hope it comes back negative.. if not I have to go in again and this time sit there for 3 hours. Not

Sorry for the Absence

It's been almost a month since my last post.. trust me it seems longer..and i am so glad to be back.. These last few weeks have been really crazy. The Holy month of Ramadan started..for those who don't know it's the month of fasts and prayers. The fasting was not hard after I got used to the no coffee in the morning and we only have 6 more days of fasting left. Not so bad. Speaking of bad, my hard drive crashed, my external harddrive that had 6 years of work accumulated on it and which I had stupidly..yes i admit very very stupidly had not back uped anywhere else. I have so learned my lesson. After the shock wore away I did my research and finally found someone to help we fix it.. he couldn't and instead of returning it evaded my calls for over a week. Once I got it back I sent it to the wonderful Cherry Systems in Atlanta who have recovered all my files and will be mailing them over to me soon.. phew what a relief. Now I plan to back up my back ups. Just when I tho
