Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch

Continuing with our winter trip to Arizona. For those who are new here, we started our trip in Page then headed to Vegas . We took a day trip to Valley of Fire and then went to the beautiful city of Sedona . We are now headed to Tucson but before we get there we made a little stop on the way at Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch. It was 3 hours from Sedona and an hour away from Tucson. Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch is a three generation family owned and operated working ostrich ranch. They have been open to the public since 1999 when it was just the ostrich to feed. Now joining the ostrich are Miniature Sicilian Donkeys, Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Fallow Deer, Peking Ducks, Boer Goats, and the all-time favorite Rainbow Lorikeets.    It is $12 per person, all animal feed is included. There is an extra $3 to feed the sting ray. We skipped the sting rays.  The ostrich were super aggressive. If you didn't hold on tight they'd steal the whole cup. Here's a video ...

A Petting Zoo and Virginia Beach

We woke up in Richmond (this was almost a month ago, I can hardly believe it) we packed our bags for the fourth time while D chatted on the phone :)  Drove right across the street to Cracker Barrel and had a very good breakfast.. we were so hungry that I forgot to take pictures.. after our tummies were full we drove on over to Maymont Gardens. These gardens are so extensive that you need to drive to get to other parts of it. There was a little train for kids, plenty of place for picnics and play, a Japanese garden, Italian garden and much more. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to explore. Our main purpose for the stop was to take D to his first petting zoo.  The boy was afraid of just about everything there.. he didn't want to be put down, the goats were a bit too excited and hungry for his liking.. and then we found a sheep.
