Art Class with D

These past few weeks D was taking a messy art class at the local Y. We were a small class of four to five kids which was perfect. It was interesting watching D, being the youngest in the class discover colors and paint, stamps and glue. A place where noodles were not meant to be eaten and getting your hands dirty was encouraged..  The getting messy part was not something he enjoyed.. in fact I was surprised that of the five kids there three had issues with getting dirty and either shied away from it or needed a constant had washing. Is it me or are kids supposed to love getting messy? It was until the very last day that D really opened up and was willing to dip his hand in paint and go crazy (as crazy as he can get) I thought this was a wonderful class.. there were many different activities and mediums to explore and a great way for D open up. I also got a glimpse into him at work.. and he reminded me of his dad.. focused and determined. ...

Gym Class with D

Before I even start this post I must take a moment to Congratulate the talented Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy for her Oscar win, the first win for Pakistan. You give Pakistani women hope as she says "Don't give up on your dreams for change" - Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy   You show the world t he pride of Pakistan is in their artistes & intellectuals. Not in bombs and bans! Now we continue with our scheduled programming :) With it being cold outside I tried to sign up D for a class. He did swim the first two times because he was two young to do anything else and he was a late bloomer when it came to walking so we stuck with swim. The last class came to an end in December so with the start of January and having D be more confident with his walking skills we started a gym class at the wonderful Montclair Geyer Family YMCA. There were a few new toys and activities every week.. he explored.. discovered and shared.. there were many giggles...
