Istanbul: Day Two

Image
We started day two with a trip to the Spice Bazaar delightful place, delectable smells.. and even a few free samples nom nom. and then made our way over the Galata Bridge.. not much to see there.. a lot of fishy smells and a pass if you don't want to catch fish or eat fish. We grabbed a taxi to Taksim Square which was a let down. The whole place was under construction.. so D grabbed a quick snack and we had some cafe lattes to refuel.. We grabbed another taxi to Dombalache Palace.. nice grounds but not much too ooh and aah over after you've seen the garden's and grounds of Versailles (there is that whole we've become jaded story.. it's unfortunate but true) and we ended up not going inside the Palace as they was an almost two hour wait for a 45 minutes mandatory guided tour.. bummer. this is what D did through most of our trip. Meaning everything took double the time.. he even insisted on carrying it up the stairs himself! Another tax...

Traveling Hiatus

Image
Hello Everyone, I am going to be going on a three week hiatus. We have some international travel planned for this month. The trip we have planned is a pilgrimage of sorts, not a trip of leisure or fun but a journey of spirituality and prayer. I plan to take my camera with me though I am not sure who much I will be using it and how much I will be able to document. We are very excited about this new kind of adventure we will be going on. The Offering The flights will be long and we have more than a few destinations, so we are hopping D will be patient with us and dazzles us with his good behavior. Though lets not kid ourselves.. we will be fully armed with snacks, books, toys and games. We just bought  this  which though for a slightly older child, we hope will keep him amused for sometime and I didn't want to buy him a portable dvd player.. he watches enough tv as it is and I'd rather go with something where he might just learn a thing or two. We also...

Road Trippin'

Image
Hey everyone.. we are getting ready for a road trip.. : ) Though first I'd like to say thank you so much for all the lovely Mother's Day comments.. yes he has big cute eyes and he knows how to use them.. Now back to the road trip. We love a good road trip and try to take one every year.. M does most of the driving, D naps in the back and I talk, sing (badly) and read. We will drive down to Baltimore, take D to his first aquarium and then head on over to DC then Virginia.. drive along the Skyline Drive, make stops in Charlottesville, Richmond, Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Hoping the weather cooperates with us and we have nothing but clear skies and warm sunshine. We'll swing by Assateague Island to see some wild ponies and then finish off in Ocean City, New Jersey. D might just ride his first Ferris Wheel. We love good food.. breakfast is very important and we live for dessert. Have you been to any of these places, live there perhaps, have some must eats, must sees, ...

Sun Soaking, Water Splashing Fun

It is time for a vacation! I haven't even completely finished editing the photographs of our last vacation and here we are going on our next. Yes, I have been just that busy and yes M and I really really need this. We have a toddler so it won't be the relaxing vacation of a time before children but it'll take us away from the routine of everyday life. It'll take us away from the Jersey cold and off to the warm sandy beaches of Aruba! Getting back to the being oh so busy.. I don't know how all these other talented mommy bloggers, crafters and artisans do it but I find it hard to jump from creative mode to mommy mode at minutes intervals. Plus M has been working late.. and this is not just a phase. It comes with the job. It usually doesn't start as soon as December.. usually it starts with January and goes on till early May.. but those are the months where I find myself becoming a single mother.. eating meals alone and being starved for adult interaction a...
