Two Days in Naxos

Image
After two beautiful days in Mykonos we hopped onto a ferry and headed to Naxos. We used Blue Star Ferries. I booked tickets online in advance, though the ferry was pretty empty and they could have been booked while we were in Mykonos as well, I don't like to chance it. It was nothing fancy and took 45 mins to get us to Naxos. The port was very close to the main town where are hotel was, so we walked it. While it was in fact a very short walk, only about 10 minutes it also happened to be in the 90's and excruciatingly hot. Like hide indoors hot. But when you are vacation you don't have the luxury to hide indoors now do you?  The hotel was not ready for us to check in so we wandered around for a bit, trying to get our bearings. Which was hard to do in the blistering heat.. every turn we took ended up being the wrong one. Except for the main street we couldn't locate the little shop lined streets that we loved so much in Mykonos. We decided to grab a bite to eat while we ...

lately things have been busy.. a lot more busy than I like my summers to be and with a lot more morning alarms than I would like. Our first two weeks of July were family filled. My parents left, my in laws arrived (they live with us for parts of the year) and then my sister in law came for a visit with her two kids.. they are very similar aged to ours which meant lots of love, laughter and lots of fights.  The next week and the week ahead are full of classes. D is taking an intense tennis class bright and early every other morning.. hence the need for an alarm. And then both boys are doing their annual summer swim crash course.. but thankfully things will all slow down as the month ends and then we can take a little break.. with no alarms.  How's summer been treating you? Now a question for my crafty friends.. my son attended a paint by arrow class. Paint filled balloons dangled over a canvas and he shot arrows at them.  This is the canvas he created. Now I was thinking t...

Summer of 2019

I have a few more cities left to post about from our United Kingdom summer vacation but before summer is completely gone and fall approaches I want to recap some of our summer fun. We went for a little weekend getaway with family to Upstate New York to celebrate the 4th of July. We stayed in Corning and went to Watkins Glen to hike through the gorge.. which was simply stunning.. and then went a little further up to the Robert Treman State Park near Ithaca for some swimming.. We did some crafts.. we bought these model planes last summer and never got around to making them.. until now.  Both of their planes are now hanging in their bedrooms..  We also made crystals with borax and pipe cleaners   We sailed on the Hudson with friends..  We read a lot.. our town library runs a great reading program and the boys get so many goodies after completing certain goals. We hit a nearby book sale as well as spent some birthday mon...
