Last Weekend
Last weekend we in the US celebrated Memorial Day and therefore had a long weekend. Since we experienced no snow this winter and didn't use any of our snow days we got an extra day off. And we were all really looking forward to the break.
Initially we had plans to go to Cape Cod but the weather seemed all over the place. We didn't want to drive all the way up there just to be stuck in cold rainy weather so we canceled and had ourselves a little staycation.
Friday morning we all went our own ways for some breakfast. D and I met up with another mom friend and her son while M and H had some father son time.
We reunited at home and did some of our own things
In the afternoon we headed out for some strawberry picking! We had gone the year before last and had really enjoyed ourselves but did not get the chance last year.
The next few days were spent eating and making treats with the strawberries. Last time we had over picked and I was a bit overwhelmed with all the strawberries.. this time around it was thankfully more manageable.
I made strawberry muffins and strawberry ice cream.. nom nom.
Then we headed over to a nearby park. H has been taking clay lessons (more on that later) so while he created we biked.
We ended the day with dinner at a new local spot that had just opened up called The Loaded Spoon.
This is not going to become a new favorite. Everything was lacking in flavor and not at all worth the fancy prices.
I am currently looking for a new car.. well most of the year has been spent test driving and we have finally narrowed it down to the final two so Saturday was spent taking the kids to check out the cars with us and finalize it to THE car. Which we did..thank God. I can not wait to be done with car shopping and wasting endless hours in dealerships.
Sunday was spent making the aforementioned muffins and ice cream
And Monday we hit the road. We drove to Princeton for breakfast..
and walked around a bit.. we can never pass up a good bookstore.
and then wandered the campus. It just so happened that we were there on graduation day so it was packed.
Our hopefully future Princeton graduate posed for some pictures. Manifesting!!
D got an eclair from Chez Alice
and then we were onto our next destination, Lambertville. We wandered around a bit before sitting down for lunch. We ate at Under the Moon Cafe and it was so good. While waiting for food Heads Up is one of our go to games to play, along with variations of the alphabet game and 20 questions.
Afterwards we walked the bridge over to New Hope, Pennsylvania.
We stopped by the New Hope train station aka the Witch Hat Station and grabbed some ice cream before heading back home.
Looks like that you all had a fabulous weekend! Have a wonderful week ahead too.

You have such a beautiful family. I love seeing your lads read, it's lovely to see children enjoying books.
ReplyDeleteThe entrance to Princetown is absolutely glorious, it looks like one of our English stately homes.
Congrats on the new car and for finding creative uses for those strawberries.
I'm intrigued by H's clay workshop. Is he an aspiring potter? If so try and track down the hugely popular British TV series The Great Pottery Throwdown, it's an absolute joy to watch! xxx
i love all the photos you shared especially the foods, they look so yummy.
