We Did It!

Wow.. what a week. I'm sure I'm not the only one when I say that I have been an emotional wreck. I have cried many tears of happiness.. for a second there on Tuesday night I had the same apprehension I had four years ago.. but we did it!

This beautiful video of CNN contributor Van Jones pretty much sums up how we (those who voted blue) all feel right now.. video. It's been making rounds over social media but if you haven't seen it please do.. and grab a few tissues.

The boys didn't have school this week so they were also just as tuned into the election process as we were.. the first thing they would do when they would wake up in the morning was ask Alexa who won.
They learned a lot from watching it all unfold. They learned about the electoral college, they learned about the importance of democracy and why we needed to count every vote. They heard President Elect Joe Biden address the nation and noticed how he spoke about hope, unity and bringing people together and now they are seeing how our current President is dealing with loss.. ungracefully.

  1. It has been such a crazy, emotional historical week. I've never watched so much CNN. That's so great your boys are so into it too. We had a lot of family texts and calls going. Many happy tears!

  3. I'm just relieved it's over and ready to move on. Sadly, I couldn't support either candidate this time (nor could I last time). My dream is that someday third parties will be viable.

  4. Yes, you did it! And I think the entire world breathed a sigh of relief with you. The boys asking Alexa made me giggle! xxx

  5. I watched his Victory Speech and liked some of the things he said. I enjoy listening to him talk - he talks calmly and sensibly.

Have a very good week, my friend.

  6. I was right there with you. I lost track of how many times I cried happy tears over the weekend, and Biden and Harris' speeches just made me feel so hopeful for the future.

  9. I am so elated, so relieved (even though what is going on with the transition dollars being released and the lack of grace on the losing side is making me crazy. This is just so wonderful that your boys are into it and following. That's really special.

  11. I was watching the news with bated breath - I think I was more excited about the US election than our own election for our Prime Minister.

Congrats! I rooted for Biden too!

  12. I was thrilled from this side of the world. The changes bring hope with them. Hope we badly need.
And you are so right about the ungraceful and ungracious behaviour of the current President and his enablers.

  18. It was nice to be able to breathe a big sigh of relief this weekend but January 20th is still too far away and so much division and hate doesn't magically go away. Not to be a downer but that is reality.

  19. Oh my gosh, Hena! The whole world is celebrating with you guys!!! :D Since the election happened, I've been following the news religiously and couldn't even really sleep! I am telling you....what a week that was! So so happy that Biden won. It is crazy what Trump is doing now, and what his minions like Barr and Pompeo are doing to undermine democracy, but hopefully, the nightmare will be over soon,

  22. it was an uncertain week and nice that your boys were able to watch and learn some. i don't "talk" politics but i will say, i wish we had better choices. biden is an older man, i say that respectfully, i would love to get some young blood in the white house!! i LOVE how he spoke about his wife in his speech, that really moved me!!!

  23. I know thank God! It was a real nail biter to be sure. I feel like we are not totally out of the woods yet until the orange menance is out of the White House. The next 3 months are going to be a bit dicy.

  24. it's good you got the result you wanted and that you were able to use the election to help your kids learn more! It's been interesting watching it from this side of the world, I can't imagine anyone here ever saying we shouldn't count all the votes, haha! Hopefully things get a little less scary in the US now.

Hope that you are having a nice weekend :)

  25. Yay for hope and the path to progress. It was stressful the beginning of this month and having to go through all the hoopla of news titles.

  26. It was a stressful and emotional week, but I am thrilled with Biden's win. I think he is the right man for the times - someone with experience, relationships, compassion, and can reach across the aisle to get things done. And, hopefully, he and Harris can work to get Covid under control. I don't think I can fully exhale until Jan. 20, 12:01pm!
