This is another photograph taken in Portugal. It was taken inside the Belem Tower. The tower symbolizes Portugal's maritime and colonial power in early modern Europe. The tower features a single, steep, narrow spiral staircase connecting its five floors, leading to an open-air terrace at the top.

I've always loved the look and the idea of circular staircases, but actually going up and down one is a pain in the butt.
