Back to School

Can you believe it.. we are back to school! While it will be great to have the kids back to school it also means early alarms, busy schedules and all the craziness that comes with it.

D is off to 10th grade.. I know I can hardly believe it myself.

And H has said goodbye to Elementary School and is off to Middle School and 6th grade.

But before we jump right into the craziness of a new school year let's take a step back into the last two weeks of August.

After our return from our trip to Egypt and Pakistan.. which I still haven't finished sharing with you.. we spent two weeks chilling at home. Or so we thought.

Our first weekend back M's cousin and family from Dubai were visiting so we hung out with them.. and they came over for dinner. When we first moved to New Jersey our closest relative was my great aunt and uncle in Pennsylvania. Now M has three cousins and their families all living within 30 minutes of us. One is a recent addition. So when we invited one we invited them all.. it was a full house and so much fun.

Then one day on H's very insistent request.. we took him to FunBox - 25,000 sq. ft of bouncy house fun. I made a reel of it here.

We went out for breakfast twice.. once the four of us and once just me and my boys while M was in Chicago.

We went to our local farmers market and bought some honey and hot sauce and then went over to Delicious Orchards to buy some of their fresh strawberry cream cheese and a few other goodies.

We made a trip to 6 Flags while M flew to Chicago for a cricket tournament.

They made it to the semi finals and for those that do know a little about cricket.. well they lost by only 6 runs.

In the middle of all this we went on a troll hunt..

This is Big Rusty by Thomas Dambo and the one that started it all.. but that requires its own post..  coming soon.

M and I went to the US Open on Labor Day.. and the next day M was given some tickets and he took D with him. This marked D's first time riding the train to New York solo.

and that is a wrap!

  6. I can almost hear the little line from Puff the Magic Dragon playing in the background of this post. I am filled with nostalgia reading about your kids growing up. I remember going to the zoo with my sixth grade son---it was the last time for a long time that we spent just the two of us, doing kid things, talking.

  16. What a whirlwind of a few weeks you’ve had, family visits, fun adventures, and even a troll hunt sprinkled in before diving into the school year. I love how you balance all the chaos with sweet traditions like farmers market trips and breakfasts out. Big milestones too with D heading into 10th grade and H starting middle school, such exciting times ahead. www.melodyjacob.com
