A Surprise and a Celebration

How is everyone doing? Hope summer or winter is treating you well.. we have been busy here. As I mentioned a few weeks ago we had a lot to celebrate in the end of June and we started with my FIL's 75th surprise birthday party.

Our first guest arrived on the morning of the 20th and our last guest left on the morning on the 24th. We had a total of 14 people in the house.. including us. The trickiest part was keeping it all a secret. Thankfully M has a cousin who lives in New Jersey who hosted a sleepover for my in laws to keep them out of the house.

We had a lot of fun.. it was also a lot of cooking and cleaning but so many laughs..

The party favors for all in attendance.

a thank you bag for all the out of towners

a birthday gazette to honor the birthday boys birth year.. 1950.

a birthday banner created by all his children and grands.

and a photo display celebrating him through the years.

I don't like to post photos of others without their consent so I will be a little stingy with my sharing.

the reaction!

when we weren't partying we played games.

the cousins

we spent some time at the park

on the 23rd D turned 15. He had to go to school that day.. he had two finals and then came home and try to study a bit for the next two finals.. not the most fun.. I know. But later that evening.. after dinner and cake we went bowling.

and that is how we wrapped up the celebrations. This is one for the books.. wonderful memories were made, it'll be remembered for a long time.

Great birthday celebrations. It looked like you all had a great time. (Of course you want to be careful posting pics of people, especially if they don't want their pictures posted.) I love that happy birthday banner with all the family holding a letter. Great idea.

Yum ... those cakes! Whether turning 75 or 15 birthdays are more joyful when shared with a caring family. Also, lovely to see your son without the patch and seeming to be healing nicely. :)

both celebrations are just terrific -- the first so very festive and well planned. I'm sure all your guests had a great time. And D! Happy belated to him. It seems when I started following your blog, he was so young -- now he's a young man. Three cheers.

I noticed D's eyepatch is gone - how long has he been without it now?? That's wonderful to see!

Love that you had such a wonderful time celebrating two birthdays with family. Eleanor and I are home visiting family and will be celebrating birthdays as well in a couple days.
