A Belated Birthday Celebration

M and I both had birthdays in early February.. and while we didn't get a chance to do anything then we made a point to celebrate when we did have the time. We started this tradition a year or two ago.. I met M in New York City when he got off work.. we had dinner at Obao.. which was incredible.


and then went to go see Little Shop of Horrors at the Westside Theater. 


It was a good show.. but we have seen better. I had posted about some of the shows we have seen a few years ago.. you can check it out here. 

The next morning we had breakfast at The Smith. We caught up with my cousin who moved to the city a few months ago for school. 



It was a beautiful day and we took our time walking back to the bus station.. to head back home.

Sounds like a great to celebrate. I went to a dinner party to celebrate a friends b day and had a great time. Too bad the show was not better, and I have heard good things about The Smith.

i looked at the shows you have seen, i have not seen any of those. i have heard "wicked" is excellent, it is one i would like to see. we have seen a few good ones, although i am not a huge fan of broadway shows. we loved "lion king" and "beautiful" the carole king story. i have heard "come from away" is excellent and i would like to see it.

When the wall between our family room and kitchen see details here came down we had to deal with two different flooring, old carpet and newish laminate. The plan was to find the same laminate.. we found the box in the basement, how hard could it be? Harder than we thought.. that particular one had been discontinued.. and finding something similar was not an easy task..  Finding a flooring that was kind of close but not close enough would seem like a mistake.. so we decided to go different, this way it would seem like an intentional design choice.. I had always wanted a chocolaty dark floor.. The next thing to take into consideration was the transition between the two floors.. generally what is used it a T- Moulding, that strip you see in the above picture connecting the two floors together. D's Amazing Race Party

Last weekend our eldest turned 9.. and we threw him an amazing race birthday party! As with all the boys other parties.. I bought a plain white cake from Wegmans and let D decorate it himself. We had a total of nine kids.. they picked bandanna's out of a bag to create 3 teams. First Task Not all the kids knew each other.. they were too amped up with the idea of winning that they couldn't manage to calm down and read the clue.. so we had to really guide them through it.. they made mistakes and we let it go.. it seemed a tad chaotic..  Second Task I had 33 little medicine cups filled with M&M's and Goldfish crackers.. 6 of them had stickers on the bottom. The first two teams found the sticker in the first try... what are the odds!? And the third team had to eat a lot of snacks before they finally found their sticker.
