lately
It has been busy.. the boys had two days off for the New Jersey teachers convention and now they have the next four days of half days which I loath.. by the time they leave it's just time for them to come back again..
A few of the poorly shot afters.. the bathroom shelves are still a little bare.. but I don't want to just go to Home Goods and buy a bunch of stuff.. we like it when the things in our home mean something.. have a story. The faucet we bought in Morocco. The frames on the wall are two of my own photographs.. Frustration and Laughing
Many moons ago I had mentioned a powder room remodel.. I never got around to sharing the after pictures with you.. the bathroom is very narrow and taking decent pictures was such a challenge.
the before
I hand painted the floor.. you can read about it here

The little glass bottle on the top shelf was bought in Venice as was the mask.. the little turtles we got in Mexico and the dried citrus wreath we found in Budapest.
We have a great big tree in our backyard.. during the first two years in this house it would turn bright red in the fall.. during our second year when H wasn't a few months shy of turning one we gathered the leaves and had some fun.. I posted about it here, at the time we thought we would make this a yearly tradition. The last few year the leaves seems to be falling before the they get a chance to turn red. But this year the tree is looking bright and beautiful.. and I am on a mission to take some great pictures again.. here's hoping mother nature cooperates.
Saturday we went to the Met Life Stadium to watch the Jets vs Giants game.. I don't care much about sports but being at a live event is something I am always up for.. it's a lot of fun whether you understand the sport of not (except for baseball.. been to a game once.. major snoozefest) My boys were rooting for the Giants... they lost.. but it was still a fun day.

I think it's great that everything you display has a story behind it. That tree is beautiful! Fall foliage can be hit or miss for us, depending on how hot and dry it is leading into the season.
ReplyDeleteYour bathroom looks great! We are thinking about re-doing ours and taking notes for ideas!

It's nice to have souvenirs from your travels as part of your home decor!

Your powder room looks very nice. Wow, you hand painted the floor, that's amazing. I really like the white sink and gold faucet, and coming from Morocco is even more special. I noticed your soap pump, that's cool. And what really caught my eye was the perfume bottle on the top of the shelf, love that. Everything looks nice, and I love to decorate the rooms in my house too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty Autumn tree. And this is a treasured photo of your family at the Giants game. : )

Great job on the powder room what a fantastic finish and that tree is beautiful. Great family pic :)
ReplyDeleteWe went to a baseball game when we visited Texas, several years ago now. I'd never been in such a huge stadium before (Dallas) and the game itself was so tiny, but I absolutely loved watching the tireless food and drink sellers rushing up and down all the steps with those huge satchels for hour after hour. Those people must be so fit!!
ReplyDeletepretty bathroom redo, and trees can be funny about what color they turn due to weather (rainy, dry, hot cold). I used to have a brilliant orange maple tree and lately it's just underperformed.... Love the group photo!
ReplyDeleteIt is so much more fun going to a live game! I love that pretty tree in your yard! I remember those half days. Uggh!
ReplyDeleteNice pictures
ReplyDeleteYou hand painted the floor. How amazing is that! I see you have been busy. The game looks fun too.
ReplyDeleteI can not believe you hand painted that floor, wow. Want to come over and go my house? Your bathroom turned out just great! And how nice to have such a wonderful try in your backyard.

I always feel like when my kids have days off school, it kind of throws my whole week off! And, mine had a half day today and I do feel like by the time I drop them off, it is time to get them again. I love the floor in your bathroom update!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful redo, my friend!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with you.
Things in our home mean something.
Great selfie of your beautiful family!!!
Some of mine were at the Steeler game Sunday.
Have a cozy evening!!!
Your powder room remodel looks so nice! I love that you took down the dividing wall. It makes it look so much bigger!
ReplyDeleteI always hated half days of school when my kids were in school. They seemed pointless and a whole lot of hassle. Your bathroom looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThis turned out fabulous Hena. I love that you get things from the places you go. Besides it doesn't have to be done all at once. It's a process and will evolve as you go more places!!

I love that everything you display has a story behind it. My mementos from my travels are still kept in a big box! We live in a 1208 sq ft condo and as it is the place is too cluttered for the 4 of us. Perhaps when the boys leave the nest...
ReplyDeleteYou hand painted the floor.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a long time to get past that photo and those words.
It is stunning. And I love how you have incorporated some of your favorites from your travels.
So glad the boys had fun. Now you need a rest!
You hand painted the floor. I am such a slacker! Bravo!
The powder room is lovely! That floor makes such a statement.
ReplyDeleteAnd that tree is just gorgeous- my fave part about fall.

Baseball is not a snoozefest if you're a fan of a particular team and the sport itself.

Yeah, my teen had four, short days instead of one last week while her tween sister had three, short days instead of the usual one. I'm lucky to carpool with a neighbor though; I covered one of her days and then she took one of mine.
ReplyDeleteI really like how the black and white theme opened up your narrow bathroom. Sometimes I wish for white walls.
