and they all fall down

This past week almost all the leaves fell off our trees.. Especially the bright red leaves of the big Japanese maple in our backyard.


Friday afternoon right after school we thought we'd take a jump in the leaves, before they had to be raked, bagged and taken away.






So glad we took out the time to do so.. the weekend got cold and wet and all the leaves blew away.

Fall leaves are fun for outdoor play! I remember raking the front yard when I was little, but we did it just so that we could build the piles and then jump in them.

I love these photos. You all look like you enjoyed yourself in the leaves. I really like Japanese maples, they're beautiful all year but they're just spectacular in the fall, aren't they!

In UK it's the same all leaves are falling down.

awww....we never go to jump in the leaves. When we came back from vacation, all the leaves in our yard have been cleaned by the lawn guys. The kids missed out, but the hubs was happy.

I remember the days with endless leaves falling down...we had fun playing in them as well, but boy oh boy was it a lot of work. We saved some for mulch but still had more to give away. Happy Falling!

When the wall between our family room and kitchen see details here came down we had to deal with two different flooring, old carpet and newish laminate. The plan was to find the same laminate.. we found the box in the basement, how hard could it be? Harder than we thought.. that particular one had been discontinued.. and finding something similar was not an easy task..  Finding a flooring that was kind of close but not close enough would seem like a mistake.. so we decided to go different, this way it would seem like an intentional design choice.. I had always wanted a chocolaty dark floor.. The next thing to take into consideration was the transition between the two floors.. generally what is used it a T- Moulding, that strip you see in the above picture connecting the two floors together. D's Amazing Race Party

Last weekend our eldest turned 9.. and we threw him an amazing race birthday party! As with all the boys other parties.. I bought a plain white cake from Wegmans and let D decorate it himself. We had a total of nine kids.. they picked bandanna's out of a bag to create 3 teams. First Task Not all the kids knew each other.. they were too amped up with the idea of winning that they couldn't manage to calm down and read the clue.. so we had to really guide them through it.. they made mistakes and we let it go.. it seemed a tad chaotic..  Second Task I had 33 little medicine cups filled with M&M's and Goldfish crackers.. 6 of them had stickers on the bottom. The first two teams found the sticker in the first try... what are the odds!? And the third team had to eat a lot of snacks before they finally found their sticker. Third Task I bought 48 piece puzzles from the Dollar Tree. The boys took their time making ...
