Dried Markers to Water Colors!

With birthdays come presents and sometimes the unexpected happens. Among D's presents was a big packet of 46 markers. The very next day D was ready to make some drawings and color with his new markers.. unfortunately we found all 46 of them dry. Pinterest to the rescue! 


1.Grab some small containers.. I seem to have an abundance of baby food jars..
2. Fill containers halfway with water
3. Place markers
4. Wait for the water to change color. We waited until the next day.
5. Paint!




In all honesty I like these even better than actual water colors. Usually keeps dipping his brush in the water and never seems to get enough paint.. here it is a perfect balance of paint and water. : )

Nice watercolor art
I use an old metal baking dish to put the jars of water in to make it easier to move them, and not turn them over.

At my age, I still get excited for markers, crayons, pencil crayons, etc! It's so much fun to decorate w/ them & add ur personal touch. Thank u for sharing this!

That's a great idea. The colors are dark enough to see them but it probably dried a little faster and cleaner since it was just water. Thanks for sharing.

That's an great idea - and I love how colorful it all turned out. Definitely going to keep this in mind for the future. Of course I just threw out a ton of markers that the kids left uncapped.

When the wall between our family room and kitchen see details here came down we had to deal with two different flooring, old carpet and newish laminate. The plan was to find the same laminate.. we found the box in the basement, how hard could it be? D's Amazing Race Party

Last weekend our eldest turned 9.. and we threw him an amazing race birthday party! As with all the boys other parties.. I bought a plain white cake from Wegmans and let D decorate it himself. We had a total of nine kids.. they picked bandanna's out of a bag to create 3 teams. First Task Not all the kids knew each other.. they were too amped up with the idea of winning that they couldn't manage to calm down and read the clue.. so we had to really guide them through it.. they made mistakes and we let it go.. it seemed a tad chaotic..  Second Task I had 33 little medicine cups filled with M&M's and Goldfish crackers.. 6 of them had stickers on the bottom. The first two teams found the sticker in the first try... what are the odds!? And the third team had to eat a lot of snacks before they finally found their sticker.
