D Behind the Lens

D has been obsessed with taking pictures and he likes to use my phone to do it. He has already broken the screen twice and I would end up with hundreds of pictures of his foot or a red blurry blob on my phone. And not to mention having to fight with him to get my phone back! Instead we decided he needed a camera.. and after much researching and review reading we went with the Playskool Showcam

It is toddler proof.. he has already dropped it a few times. It has big buttons for easy usage.. and comes with a view finder meaning he gets to shoot like mommy :) It has a few other gimmicks I don't care about like noises and you can put a pirate hat on your pictures and things like that.. but the best one is the camera becomes a projector. With the flip of a button D can view all the pictures he just took standing inside our dark pantry his choice of location not mine.

The resolution, not so great.. but after the gazillions of reviews I read of dozens of kid friendly cameras none of them had great resolution.

The camera allows D to be creative, see the world through another perspective and we get a better look at how he sees things..

That's hilarious! All the faces are happy the same way, even the baby. How did D get such a great shot of his brother. Fantastic pictures. He's quite the photographer.

How wonderful that you chose such a cool kid camera. I don't think any of them are very good with resolution, but it's good for the kids to be able to get creative and have fun. The projector feature is really nice.

I think that this is lovely and he has taken some very creative pictures! I'm sure when he gets a little older and can is able to take care of things a lil better he can get a camera with better resolution, but for now, this is great!

When the wall between our family room and kitchen see details here came down we had to deal with two different flooring, old carpet and newish laminate. The plan was to find the same laminate.. we found the box in the basement, how hard could it be? D's Amazing Race Party

Last weekend our eldest turned 9.. and we threw him an amazing race birthday party! As with all the boys other parties.. I bought a plain white cake from Wegmans and let D decorate it himself. We had a total of nine kids.. they picked bandanna's out of a bag to create 3 teams. First Task Not all the kids knew each other.. they were too amped up with the idea of winning that they couldn't manage to calm down and read the clue.. so we had to really guide them through it.. they made mistakes and we let it go.. it seemed a tad chaotic..  Second Task I had 33 little medicine cups filled with M&M's and Goldfish crackers.. 6 of them had stickers on the bottom. The first two teams found the sticker in the first try... what are the odds!? And the third team had to eat a lot of snacks before they finally found their sticker. Third Task I bought 48 piece puzzles from the Dollar Tree. The boys took their time making ...
