Chug a Chug Chug - This is a photograph of the Essex Steam Train taken in Essex, Connecticut. I took this photograph in 2008 during a road trip M and I took through New England. This is a Valley Railroad #97, a vintage 2-8-0 "Consolidation" type steam locomotive, built in 1923 by the American Locomotive Company. It's one of the few operational steam locomotives in the United States, consuming 2 tons of coal per day to produce the steam that powers it. It is primarily used for special events like the North Pole Express.  You can buy this print  here . Get Free Shipping with code BLOGGER Prints also available in larger sizes. Here's another close up shot..I really enjoyed zooming in on things when I started taking photographs. Focus on the patterns others usually didn't. This is a photograph of a building in Florida. M had a conference and we were in a pre kids phase of our life so I had tagged along. This was the hotel we stayed in. I no longer have this print listed on Etsy but  Zazzle  and    Redbubble   allow me to experiment with it on other products.                                             Etsy             Instagram             Twitter             Redbubble             Zazzle

When I started out with photography I was obsessed with taking close ups.. macro shots. This is a sepia mirror abstract of a ceiling in Iran. I visited a long long time ago and now don't even remember where I took it but I found it fascinating. It was not exactly successful as a photo print but with the help of   Zazzle   and   Redbubble   it can be places on hundreds of print on demand products.      Anything you like?                                                                     Etsy             Instagram             Twitter             Redbubble             Zazzle

This photograph was taken in 2008. We took a little trip to Washington DC with some friends to see the cherry blossoms. It was so pretty. If you haven't been you really must. The planting of cherry trees in Washington DC originated in 1912 as a gift of friendship to the People of the United States from the People of Japan. Islamic Pattern   - Back in 2007 when I was in my last year of college our class went on a trip to Iran. We travelled to Tehran, Isfahan and Yazd. This photograph was taken inside Jameh Mosque in Yazd, Iran. This 14th-century Azeri-style Shia mosque features blue tilework, 2 domes & 2 minarets. You can buy this print  here .                                This is my last photograph from my hand series. It was part of a school project and I needed to have a certain amount of photographs and well I was struggling to fill in that last spot. So this was a little experiment. I found a pane of glass, painted my hand with red paint, a flashlight and well this was the result.  This print and other products can be purchased  here  and here .                                            Etsy             Instagram             Twitter             Redbubble             Zazzle

Another hand photograph from the archives. In South Asia, on joyous occasions like weddings we purchase garlands made of rose and place them around the necks of the happy couple. There are different types of garlands made for different occasions. This photograph is off a man's hands as he is threading roses onto a string onto thread.  This print can be purchased  here .                                                                   Etsy             Instagram             Twitter             Redbubble             Zazzle

Another hand photograph from the archives. This one was taken in Karachi, Pakistan. This photograph is of Sakina, our maid at that time. A fact that surprises some is that most people in 3rd world countries have maids. I went to her home where she ground herbs between two rocks. She is wearing glass bangles and her nail are colored orange with a henna, an alternative to nail polish.  This print can be purchased here .                                       Etsy             Instagram             Twitter             Redbubble             Zazzle

Another hand photograph from the archives. This one was taken in Karachi, Pakistan. Getting this picture was a right place at the right time situation. I was in the backseat of the car waiting just like this man here for the light to turn green. His ring adorned hand hanging out the window. It was a quick moment and I just happened to have my camera with me. Lucky me. This was in the pre cell phone era.. You can buy this print  here . I am going to be sharing another one from the archives. This above photograph was taken in Karachi. On of the women from the janitorial staff in my college was sitting on the bench taking a break and I found the warm brown of her skin so beautifully complemented by the orange of her shalwar (a baggy pant like garment worn by women in South Asia.. think hammer pants) The print is available for purchase here                                  Etsy             Instagram             Twitter             Redbubble             Zazzle             Society6
