Oahu, Hawaii part 2
Happy to hear you all enjoyed the first part of our trip to Oahu. I have so much more to share.. plus we visited a second island.
DAY 4
We swung by Leonard's Bakery again.. dang those malasadas were good. We had a big adventure planned for the day at Kualoa Ranch.
Tahitian Screwpine
Kualoa is a 4,000-acre private nature reserve and working cattle ranch established in 1850, as well as a popular visitor attraction and filming location (for over 200 movies and tv shows) on the windward coast of Oʻahu in Hawaii.
We had booked a 2 hour UTV tour and it was so much fun!
Can you guess how many turtles we saw?
It was still a beautiful beach. Many many signs were put up warning us about staying away from said turtles but they for whatever reasons were a no show.
We drove on to the town of Haleiwa were we had the incredible Jax's Woodfired Pizza. It was so good we still find ourselves thinking about it. Especially the pineapple one which the kids really wanted since we were in Hawaii and well I'm glad they did because it was the best.
Our last stop was to check out a nearby beach.. but as with all of our recent beach experiences, there were warning signs and the waves were very windy and choppy. So we decided to go right back to Waikiki Beach.
We ended the night with dinner at Tommy Bahama. Did you know they had a restaurant? I didn't. It was very good. But it was also very cold on their outdoor rooftop eating area. Cold enough that my sweet sweet husband ran back to our hotel to bring me my hoodie. I didn't not expect it to be so cold and had packed only one light sweater.
DAY 5
And just like that it was our last day. We had our first sit down breakfast. It was a morning without alarms and rushing.
First we visited the Aviation Museum. It was very easy to navigate the area. A shuttle ran through the base and I had no idea that people lived there. There was a school and playground etc.
Lastly we boarded the boat to visit the USS Arizona Memorial. The USS Arizona Memorial marks the resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors and Marines killed on USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, It was a somber but lovely way to end our visit to Oahu.

Beautiful photos. How wonderful that you all had a chance to see Hawaii. You all look fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing.

That sounds like another wonderful couple of days; though I am sorry it sounds like you had some pretty windy and cooler weather and didn't get to see any turtles on turtle beach.
ReplyDeleteLove the turtle sighting photo, too funny!! They must have hidden from you!! Looks like you had a great time there!
ReplyDeleteGood to see, lovely photos of you all.

Who is that tough biker gang in the black helmets and bandanas? So cool to see where Jurassic Park was filmed. And yes! Pineapple pizza is delicious, no matter what anyone says!
ReplyDeleteLove the props from the movies! They make a great photo op. I wouldn't mind having a fancy flavored popsicle, either.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people hate on Hawaiian style pizza but it's just about my favorite. Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteI love, love the photos today. Thank you for sharing your trips with us, I do enjoy it so much.

ReplyDeleteKualoa Ranch looks amazing—what a fun adventure! And pineapple pizza in Hawaii just feels right. Pearl Harbor sounds like such a meaningful way to end your time on Oahu. Can’t wait to see where you went next!
ReplyDeleteYou always find places with the best pizza! Oh, my grands would love that ranch. I'd love the Pearl Harbor area. That's interesting about the pricing -- nice that one can pick and choose. Can't wait for the next chapter of your visit!
ReplyDeleteWhat fantastic photos! I had to giggle at the fout of you cowering at that dinosaur! You didn't see turtles but you had a blast!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of the women firefighters! xxx

ReplyDeleteGreat and interesting trip!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a blast. Love the dinosaurs!
ReplyDeleteYou did a lot on Oahu. Maybe you went to Big Island?-Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun day and adventure. I love the pizza and waffles yum! Take care, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThx for the info on the Pearl Harbor exhibit -- I still want to go there. You took some great photos of your trip and I hope you all had a relaxing and fun time. The dinosaurs were an added plus I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteMy nephew would love that dino land. Hawaii has always been on my bucket list.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize they filmed that much there. When you started writing about the turtle beach I got excited to see them and then the 0 cartoon came up and I had to laugh. The museum looks like it would be interesting. My hubby has been there in the air force but I have never been to Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteIt’s a pity the winds were brisk and the cooler weather kept the turtles away from Turtle Beach. Hopefully next time the conditions will be calmer and you’ll get to enjoy spotting them.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing trip! We visited Pearl Harbor and The Arizona some years back. It was a informative experience. We also went to the Dole Plantation and it was so neat, too!
ReplyDeleteIf we ever get back to Hawaii, you have pointed us in the direction of some places we missed. Thank you so much! Each one of your photos is fun and I love all your happy, smiling faces.
ReplyDeleteYou got to see some incredible things on your Hawaii trip. The food looks amazing, but too bad you didn't see any turtles on the beach!
ReplyDeleteThe UTV tour sounds like it was a lot of fun, and it is amusing you saw 0 turtles at Turtle Beach!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like y'all had a great trip! It's so cool that you got to see where some of Jurassic Park and Lost was filmed. Lost is my favorite tv show.
ReplyDeleteThat pizza does look incredible! Ya'll look so happy at the Jurassic Park/atv adventure.
ReplyDeleteAren't those malasadas so yummy!? If we had more time, we probably would have done the ranch tour. It's good to know we didn't miss out on that Matsumoto shave ice. We were too full to try it. I'll keep Vintage in mind for next time--though I'm not the biggest shave ice fan. It helps when they add ice cream. That pizza looked incredible. I bet the pineapple was so good! What an awesome trip!
ReplyDeleteI have almost that exact same picture of the flag on the USS Arizona. It was such a humbling experience being there.
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of your dinosaur adventures!!
