I have had quite the week.. I don't even know where to begin. With my great uncles 85th birthday celebration to 15 people in my house for a night to me falling ill.. again. This time it was bad.. really bad cough and a fever. I was lucky to have my mom who helped nurse me back to health. Excuse me for being late catching up with all your blogs as well. So instead of talking about all of that I'm doing a book post instead. I read three really great series' these past few months.

The War of Lost Hearts by Carissa Broadbent

Synopsis - Tisaanah, a former slave who attempts to buy her freedom but must flee after her attempt goes wrong. She seeks help from the powerful magic-wielding Orders to free her country and best friend, but this requires her to complete an apprenticeship with a reclusive warrior named Maxantarius. A romance develops between them as they get drawn into the Orders' political games and a looming war, forcing them to confront their pasts and what they are willing to sacrifice.

Thoughts - Thank God for audiobooks because this was very long series. It was a total for 50 hours listening time. Unfortunately I just don't get that much time to sit and read so the audio came in really handy. It still took me month to get through. It was an epic tale that I enjoyed very much.. it's just a really big commitment.

The Light series by Aleatha Romig

Synopsis - Sara Adams awakes blind, unable to remember the most basic details of her life, but her darkness seems a blessing when she discovers the terrors of The Light. Stella Montgomery investigates the news on the mean streets of Detroit, where she's noticed a disturbing trend: young women are vanishing.

Thoughts - Let me start by saying there are a lot of triggers in this series, especially violence against women. So read at your own discretion. I read through the first book so fast. I didn't realize it was part of a series and could hardly wait to get book two from the library. The story centers around a religious cult and it is sad to think that there are so many lost individuals out there that they would voluntarily subjugate themselves to something like this. But then again that is how Manson got people to do his bidding.. all the lost souls looking to find meaning and purpose.

The Crimson Moth series by Kristen Ciccarelli

Synopsis - Rune, a noblewoman who's secretly the vigilante Crimson Moth, rescuing hunted witches in a post-revolution world, who must pretend to court feared witch-hunter Gideon Sharpe to gather intel, leading to a dangerous, enemies-to-lovers romance where their opposing roles as hunter and hunted ignite unexpected feelings and test loyalties.

Thoughts - This was such a fun series. I loved both characters, the witty banter, the sexual tension.. Loved it!
