The Story Of Us

In case you haven't heard... they did it.. Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell raised over 2 million dollars in just one day via Kickstarter campaign to show to the networks how many people still cared about the show even after a little less than 10 years of it's first airing. And now they are making the movie! This show had it all.. romance, tragedy, teen angst, drama, mystery, danger, hot actors, great dialogue, a long list of guest stars.. some already big and some on their way to making it big. And I know I already said great dialogue but it really did, full of pop culture references and witty, sassy snark! It also dealt with issues of date rape, teen pregnancy, the over privileged, gangs, sex tapes and everything in between. Unfortunately it suffered something so many teen shows face and very few overcome. Graduation. These shows strive in there high school environment and when it come time to grow up and move on it is difficult to keep everyone in the same town, college

With Labor Day right around the corner it is official, summer has ended. A little reminder of those beautiful warm days at the beach Under the Umbrella . While we were getting the kitchen re done we thought we would give the living room a bit of a refresh as well. The first time we did our living room was a couple months after moving in over 8 years ago. I loved our original carpet and that gray couch was so very comfortable it was hard to say goodbye.. but we were ready for some new pieces. The new space We replaced the gas fireplace with led candles. While we loved the idea of the fireplace we never really used it, especially since our tv is right above it. We considered installing a mantel and keep the fireplace but because our fireplace is raised and M wanted a big tv the tv would have to touch the ceiling in order to fit a mantel.  The rug was a Home Goods find. We got the sectional from Wayfair and the curtains  from Amazon. We tried out a multitude of curtains before going with the dark blue ones.  We switched out dining table from a rectangle to a circle. Thank you so much for all your kind words on my last post..  We are in June.. can you believe it? 19 more days of school left.. phew. Our summer vacation is going to have to be cancelled.. I am putting off cancelling our flights till we get closer to July.. we were supposed to be visiting family and friends in Pakistan.. M hasn't seen his sister in over four years.  The kids take a crash course swim class every summer and we were just informed that they will take place as scheduled.. so that's something to look forward to. D is also turning 10 at the end of the month.. we are hoping things will open up a bit more till then and maybe we can have a little picnic with some friends and family to celebrate.  It has finally warmed up and we had our first barbecue of the season..  We live in a semi wooded area so we are no strangers to deer roaming our streets and yards.. but it was our first time spotting a fawn as small as this one laying down as such. Days and nights have become a blur and 7 weeks have gone by since D came into our life. He coos and makes eye contact with us.. feigns interest when I jabber on and on about nothing in particular. This post could do go on and on about all the wonders of D so I'll stop now.. yes, I have become one of those mom's who find their babies to be the most interesting subject matter. But motherhood hasn't stopped me from keeping my shop updated and though my promotional and marketing skills may have become a bit lacking I *Thank God* have still managed to make a few sales. Red Print  and The Inner Core And with the heat beating down on us.. summer is definitely here to stay so a few more flower infused art prints never hurt anyone.. right? So here is Live. Grow. Knowing that we weren't going to get to spend the summer with the boys this year.. we tried to do as much as we could with them before we left.         One of M's colleagues took us out on his boat :)   Enjoyed some 59c pancakes :) Tried to use our imagination. Played a lot of Battleship.. a lot!  Tried to rollerskate Visited the High Line Park .. one of my favorite places in the city Went biking.. D managed to go 4 miles.. we were very impressed. A baby visited. My brother's son.. it was great to see the boys bond. and then the grandparents arrived. They did a wonderful job taking  care of the kids while we were gone. For which we are very thankful. Over the summer I had bought a Groupon for a glass making place called Make It Glass and while we didn't get a chance to use it during the summer we headed out there with the boys last week before the Groupon expired. I'm glad we did.. it was such an interesting experience.  Both boys glued and layered their little pieces of colorful glass. Once finished we learned about the different temperatures the glass pieces are fused together at. Now while my brain has forgotten the temps I can surely say there was the option of high and medium.. lol. High results in a smooth finish while medium it more textured. So we went with a smooth finish on H's piece and a textured finish for D's piece.           The before and after of H's creation! I took these last June. We took D to the state fair to celebrate his second birthday. Would have liked to take him again this year but I don't think we'll be in town around that time.
