Organized Chaos
I skipped last weeks blog because while a lot is happening.. not much is blog worthy. The kitchen is finally finished.. though not a 100%. The cabinet company we used sucked...(more on that later) so while we have a functioning kitchen we are still waiting on a ton of replacements. But at least we can have home cooked meals again.
I am currently spending most of my time figuring out where and how to put everything back in. The stuff I have managed to put back in makes me happy but what would make me happier if I woke up and everything was just perfectly organized.
So while I am organizing and looking for some new products share with me what are some of the kitchen tools, gadgets, storage solutions you have and love.
My biggest problem is that I am vertically challenged. So while I have tons up space I can't really reach most of it.. ugh.
Haha that's me while cooking!

I have climbed on the bottoms shelf to reach something high at the store. I can barely reach my top shelf without a stool and don't unless it's something right at the front or I fear an accident! I'm glad the kitchen is done, though. You'll be back to normal before you know it!
ReplyDeleteThat's where a step stool comes in handy!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking exactly what Debra said.... you need a sturdy step stool! I'm of medium height, but I still have one handy for those very top shelves.
ReplyDeleteI use a step stool a lot too. Handy though it would be lovely to be taller. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be great if we could just click out fingers and these kind of jobs be done?! :D
ReplyDeleteSorry about the cabinets. It's nice that it's finally done, though. Sometimes the minutiae of the day to day just isn't interesting enough for blogging. I know what you mean.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that the end is in sight. I was a short person for a long time, but grew eight inches in a year, and nearly two the following year. So I have looked at life from both sides now...
ReplyDeleteYears after our kitchen was remodelled I still when tired reach for the knife block where it used to live...
We had our kitchen remodeled a year ago and it was a nightmare too. It took months for all of the problems to be taken care of. Hopefully yours will be finished and organized soon!
ReplyDeleteI seem to get shorter each year!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the progress!
ReplyDeleteHaving a proper good step ladder makes life easier. It is no fun getting stuck on a counter. :)
I feel you about being vertically challenged. Good luck on getting things back in order.

We had a few issues to sort out after renovation but thankfully all is workable now.
ReplyDeleteEven though I am tall, I still can't reach things at times. Can't wait to see the progress on the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. I have never known a kitchen in my life that didn't have a ladder close by!! Seriously, even in our house now which has shorter ceilings, it's still needed.

PS, I love this for our utensil drawer: https://amzn.to/3tM1J0X It's adjustable to the width of your drawer, and looks so nice.
I am not that short and I still struggle with this! Lol. Have a lovely week!

Gurrlll...I feel yah! :D
ReplyDeleteI skipped last week too but should be back tomorrow. I can't wait to see your new kitchen! I keep a folding step stool in our pantry and one on our bedroom closet as well as the laundry room. I can relate! Sometimes I just pull a chair over to stand on too.
ReplyDeleteThis is the reason why we mothers don't need gym!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a very short girl, but I couldn't manage without my sturdy two-step step stool because I have to-the-ceiling upper cabinets. Get that stepstool, getting up on the counter like that is dangerous! Sorry you've had some problems with remodeling. It's such a stressful process even when it's going smoothly!
ReplyDeleteWe had so many issues with cabinets when we renovated our kitchen years ago. It's so frustrating! Good luck with getting all your kitchen back in order!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the cabinets! I can't wait to see your kitchen!

I am a mere 5'1" - I can totally relate!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday, Hena!
Oh dear, I hope it all gets sorted soon! And I'm definitely hearing you on being vertically challenged :-) xxx
ReplyDeleteWe did a kitchen reno before Covid and it took all Spring and Summer! Ugh! It is nice when it comes to the point you can use it, even if things aren't fully done. Enjoy the new kitchen!

Yay on your kitchen being done but boo on the cabinets. A step stool is a simple solution to your problem. And be sure to store what you rarely use on top.
ReplyDeleteI used a step stool couple of times (it was funny) LOL. Enjoy your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will be worth all the chaos when it's done!

Oh, I'm glad your kitchen turned out well, and it's a functional one. Love the pictures and quotes today, they made me smile. I wish I was there to help you on those top shelves. My whole life it seems I've helped people at the store get something from the top shelves, as I'm 5'8. Can't wait to see your kitchen sometime.

My husband is tall so I always make him come and get the things I need on the top shelf.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to read that the cabinet company was subpar, that is quite disappointing!! We need a new kitchen but I'm putting it off. We are going to get the chimney repointed and a new roof and investigating upgrading the insulation of the house. Boring but necessary.
ReplyDeleteI relate to the short girl problems. Sending hugs your way.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see progress being made!
ReplyDeleteI am tall but I still have to use a step stool to reach the top of cabinets. We bought one that folds out into a triangle and has 4 steps and is very study. It is worth the investment so you don't fall. It folds up and fits behind a door when not in use.
I like revolving racks to hold spices in my cabinet near my food prep area, and drawers that slide out in my cabinets so I do not have to reach all the way into the back o find things.
Hahah made my day :)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend

I'm the same (being short!) so I have a lot of things on the bottom shelf of our kitchen cabinets but not much on the top shelfs as I can't reach them without a step stool, haha! Luckily we always have a step stool around as the kids use it when baking or cooking in the kitchen with me, but I still hate having to use it so there isn't much on the top shelves of those cabinets!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a good weekend :)

I'm 5'7 and shorter women often ask for my help in reaching for items in the grocery store.
ReplyDeleteKitchen renovation is always a big challenge. I am also of short stature and unfortunately not everything is at my fingertips.
ReplyDeleteI can completely relate with these photos because sometimes I have the same situations.
ReplyDeleteGlad your kitchen is almost finished, but what a hassle it sounds like you had with the cabinets. I am finding that bins inside cabinets are extremely helpful in keeping me organized, as well as lazy susans to spin for easy access.
ReplyDeleteI keep a small stepladder in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteWhen we moved we had to get rid of a lot of stuff b/c our home doesn't have a lot of storage. I make sure to have everything I usually need near the bottom of the cabinets; I can reach to the second shelf.
