H Turns Eight

And just like that H turned 8. We started the morning with homemade candy waffles and ended the days with a raspberry mousse cake. This child of mine is oddly not a big fan of chocolaty desserts.. sigh. Otherwise it was a pretty normal day.. we had come back from a trip the day prior so we all got covid tests and stayed home.  This weekend though we had a birthday party for him. Last year we had refrained, being in the thick of the pandemic. This year with them already going to school and participating in sports etc we decided it would be fine to have a small party. We opted to not have it in our home. We hosted it at Knockerballs, its a cool indoor play area with life sized games like Human Foosball and Hungry Hungry Humans.. D had attended a few birthday parties there and I always thought it was such a fun place. The entire space was booked for us which made it feel safer. I used Paperless Post to send out the invites. Mainly because I did a sponsored post for them a couple of year

Hello 2022

Image
2022. 2022! How are we in 2022? Hope you all had a happy and healthy end to the year. When I signed off for the year we had a lot planned. Not everything went as planned though. We were visited upon with some very bad news. We were rocked to our very cores when we heard about the sudden death of a close family friend in a freak accident. When something like that happens it makes you question your life and the choices you make, it makes you want to hold your loved ones closer and make more memories with them. The last few years have been filled with much loss for many people and wish everyone another year of courage and hope.   M and I got our boosters. I reunited with a friend I hadn’t seen in 5 years! We had a few little trips planned.. we canceled some.. we moved around things. Our friends hosted a secret Santa.  We all got Covid tests yesterday before retuning to school/work.  H turned 8! This is the picture he insisted I use. He had lost a tooth just minutes before.  All in all we

Five Blissful Days in Antigua

Image
We are back. We have been back for a week now.. and things have been busy. Can you believe it's December already?  We spent five deliciously blissful days at St. James Club, Antigua. But it didn't start out that way. This was our first time travelling internationally, it was our first time on a plane. And it all starts with a Covid test. I made an appointment at a local pharmacy that we recently had a really good experience with. They insisted all appointments must be made online. So I did, Sunday morning. And then we show up on said Sunday morning and turns out the pharmacy is closed on Sundays. Time to panic? Thankfully there is a near by urgent care we step in to.  Do they have appointments available? Yes.. just a couple of people ahead of us. Do they take our insurance? Sure, no problem. Excellent.  We are seen three hours later and are informed that there is a $75 co pay per person. Aren't these supposed to be free? Not in an urgent care. Couldn't you have told us

Four Days in NYC

Image
We live about an hour away from the city. M commutes to the city for work regularly. We hop over for a game or a show, meet up with friends and then rush back home. We are never just there.. So when the kids had two days off school we thought we'd turn it into a mini vacation.  We took the train over.. which I was surprised to realize that it was a first for H. We used to make so many trips when D was little.. we lived right next to a light rail. Now that we live deeper in the burbs we often drive in.. this way the kids can fall asleep in the car on the ride home.  Anyway, we left home right after breakfast and found ourselves in the city just before noon. We were staying in the Flatiron District and were happy to hear that our room for ready hours before check in. We freshened up and headed out.  DAY ONE - We started with a stop at the Madison Square Park playground, strolled by the Flatiron Building and made our way towards Chelsea Market. I always recommend Chelsea Market to fir
