Going on a Troll Hunt

Image
It all started with Big Rusty. Thomas Danbo, creator of Big Rusty is a Danish "recycle art activist" who is known for his installations of giant monumental wooden sculptures called trolls, made entirely out of recycled materials. The trolls are installed in various locations in 17 countries. You can check out the map . Thomas Dambo created "Big Rusty," a gigantic troll sculpture in Hainesport, NJ in 2023, from recycled materials found at the site of a former ceramic factory. Dambo built Rusty on-site, using the factory's discarded metal, wood, and concrete, he wants to promote recycling and environmental awareness by transforming trash into public art. Troll Trek was created to honor and thank Thomas Dambo for selecting Burlington County as the home of one of his famous trolls,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson. “To do that, we decided to bring Big Rusty some troll friends. Now that they have arrived, we hope residents will visit each ...

For those unfamiliar with Gaudi, he was a Spanish architect and designer, famous for his unique and innovative architecture, heavily influenced by nature and the Catalan Modernisme movement. His iconic work is characterized by its organic forms, vibrant colors, and intricate details, which can be seen in famous Barcelona landmarks like the incomplete Basílica de la Sagrada Família, Park Güell, Casa Batlló, and Casa Milà. all these products and more are available for purchase in my  Zazzle  and  Redbubble  stores.                                 Etsy             Instagram             Twitter         ...

Hurghada Egypt

Image
After our three days in Cairo we headed over to Hurghada. Hurghada has grown from a small fishing village to one of the largest resort destinations along the Red Sea coast. More than one million tourists visit the city each year. It is a five hour drive for Cairo. We rented a large van and a driver to take us there.  Our resort of choice was Pickalbatros Jungle Aqua Park. It was a massive all inclusive resort with numerous restaurants, many pools and the real attraction, water slides. Over a dozen water slides. We were in kid heaven. Oh and rides.. I forgot to mention carnival rides.  With so much to do sometimes we only saw the kids at meal times.  My little brother with my two boys and his two boys. My brother's youngest on a ride with us, she was too little to ride with the other kids. The other couple we were travelling with also had two boys and they all just fit in perfectly. How many men does it take to open an umbrella? The bumper cars were a favorite. Unlike in t...

Back to School

Image
Can you believe it.. we are back to school! While it will be great to have the kids back to school it also means early alarms, busy schedules and all the craziness that comes with it.  D is off to 10th grade.. I know I can hardly believe it myself. And H has said goodbye to Elementary School and is off to Middle School and 6th grade. But before we jump right into the craziness of a new school year let's take a step back into the last two weeks of August.  After our return from our trip to Egypt and Pakistan.. which I still haven't finished sharing with you.. we spent two weeks chilling at home. Or so we thought.  Our first weekend back M's cousin and family from Dubai were visiting so we hung out with them.. and they came over for dinner. When we first moved to New Jersey our closest relative was my great aunt and uncle in Pennsylvania. Now M has three cousins and their families all living within 30 minutes of us. One is a recent addition. So ...
