Blue was taken while vacationing in Aruba. The stunning silvery blue waters of Aruba. The white clouds rolling in to give the sky a painterly quality, a boat at the horizon. Serene perfection. A Day at Disney World

Image
Let me just start by saying thank you for all your comments on last week's post. In case no one has told you yet today... you are all awesome! We woke as early as we possibly could, I surprised D with a brand new Mickey t-shirt. We were staying at the Marriott, they had a pretty decent complimentary breakfast and shuttle service to the Magic Kingdom. We opted to take our own car to the park instead. Here we are, the gate We missed the opening ceremony by some minutes.. oh well maybe next time. We hurried down main street and to Cinderella's Castle. We started the day in Adventureland. The Swiss Family Treehouse was temporarily closed so our first ride of the day was Aladdin's Flying Carpet, what better way to start the day? I loved that there were so many things H could ride on with us. Next up the Jungle Cruise, cute with a great guide, quirk, funny and so perfectly in character! H decided to take a nap during the Pirates of the Caribbean, I secret

All Cried Out This photograph was taken in Aruba. A water stained wall and water pipe. I was mesmerized by its similarity to a grief stricken face. Florida Tripping

Image
Not something I am necessarily proud of but I have spent most of my life a dependent.. I went from my parent's home to my married home.. I have never lived on my own.. apart from an internship or two I have never held an out of the home job.. I don't recall ever eating out alone either. I have flown 16 hour flights alone with D.. if that counts. So when my parents proposed a Florida trip in January, a month when M is usually very busy at work and would not be able to take days off I was faced with a challenging opportunity. No I would not being doing it on my own per se but I was no longer the dependent. All these years I plan the trips and then the second we leave the house I put up my feet and M drives, takes care of car rentals, parking, pumping gas just about everything else... I began to plan the trip.. we were to be in Florida for 5 days.. the first two days we would spend driving down to the Keys, stopping in the Everglades to catch an air boat ride and maybe spot a

H Turns One

Image
We started the year off with H's first birthday party.. and I am so happy to report it was a huge success.. everything went smoothly, all the kids especially my two boys had a blast.. the birthday boy was tear free! I was no sure about a theme at first.. one thing I knew was that I wanted.. needed it to be something simple and cute.. and what is cuter that a rubber ducky? We sent out evites.. thank God for evite.. it makes things so much easier. Favors: from Oriental Trading Cake: I went with delicious adorable cupcakes made by my oh so talented friend.. and a little smash cake for little H. from Walmart I got these little blue cardboard cupcake stands...cute and easy to assemble. Decor: Except for a few balloon near the cake table me did no extra decoration.. we were already in a nice restaurant and it just didn't seem worth the hassle.  Entertainment: Since we had a majority of older kids including D we needed to keep them entertained.

1. Signature of All Things - Elizabeth Gilbert - I started the year off by finishing what I had started the year before. the novel follows the fortunes of the extraordinary Whittaker family as led by the enterprising Henry Whittaker, a poor-born Englishman who makes a great fortune in the South American quinine trade, eventually becoming the richest man in Philadelphia. Born in 1800, Henry's brilliant daughter, Alma (who inherits both her father's money and his mind), ultimately becomes a botanist of considerable gifts herself. As Alma's research takes her deeper into the mysteries of evolution, she falls in love with a man named Ambrose Pike who makes incomparable paintings of orchids and who draws her in the exact opposite direction, into the realm of the spiritual, the divine, and the magical. It started with promise.. the middle was interesting and not all that I had expected but it was the end that was a let down.. which seemed to drag on a little longer than needed
