I have been a bit absent.. I have a ton to post about but for some of it I'm not ready just yet. Mostly we are in between a lot of things.. like.. We have ordered window treatments for our and the boys rooms.. We went back and forth about curtains.. I thought about stenciling fun curtains for the boys like I had done before for D's nursery . But in all honesty I just don't have the time for a DIY. We bought and returned a few different curtains for our room.. our windows are placed oddly.. the set of windows on the other side are not a problem but this little one behind the bed is awkward.. so we thought roman shades? I'm mulling over the placement of art and photographs too.. something off center maybe..? Thinking thinking.. planning planning.. Speaking of planning.. we are also planning our vacation days.. hopefully my ankle will be better by then.. in case you haven't been following along here's the ankle story . I am now taking two medicines... and

The Formal Dinning Room Gets A New Job

Image
This post has been long over due.. we started working on this project last winter.. it was sort of done by February.. it's still far from finished.. but I don't want to finish the room and fill it with furniture just to be done with it.. I want the process to be organic.. the room in the state it is right now serves the purpose we want right now.. the room as a lot of room for growth but we are not sure which direction we want to take it in.. hence the wait.. you'll see what I mean..  The room began as our formal dining room.. but we are not very formal dining room sort of people.. and I didn't want use it as a formal dining room because that's what it was supposed to be.. I wanted it to be a room we use, I wanted it to have a function..  M and I have dabbled in DIY's but we are not builders.. we did the basement loft after this project. At this point we were complete novices.. but we knew our  strengths  and weaknesses.. we made a point not to

A New Year

Image
I hope you all had a wonderful love, family and food filled Holiday season.. and a great New Year. The last few days of our year were spent spending time with family. My mom has been visiting for the past few months and around Christmas my dad flew in and will be spending a little over a month with us. D had been counting down the days and is now ecstatic. We spent and still are doing weekly movie nights Home Alone was a huge hit in our house,  sipping hot coco and playing games, UNO, Dominos, Foosball We also spent those days wrapping things up.. M took over a week off work and we tied up all the loose ends on our home projects.. pictures and details will come soon. While it was exhausting towards the end seeing the projects come to a close have been also very exciting and rewarding. You can take a look at some of our other home projects here Other days were spent doing a few last minute tasks for Hasan's big birthday bash.. yup can you believe it, he is one! With us as

Dried Markers to Water Colors!

Image
With birthdays come presents and sometimes the unexpected happens. Among D's presents was a big packet of 46 markers. The very next day D was ready to make some drawings and color with his new markers.. unfortunately we found all 46 of them dry. Pinterest to the rescue!  1.Grab some small containers.. I seem to have an abundance of baby food jars.. 2. Fill containers halfway with water 3. Place markers 4. Wait for the water to change color. We waited until the next day. 5. Paint! In all honesty I like these even better than actual water colors. Usually keeps dipping his brush in the water and never seems to get enough paint.. here it is a perfect balance of paint and water. : ) Get my post directly in you inbox with  Bloglovin I am now also offering ad space.  See  Sponsors  for more information .  Newsletter Sign Up - Let's Stay Connected, Shall We?

Pantry Makeover

Image
We are back from our weekend getaway with our friends, it was a beautiful weekend even though it was surprisingly chilly.. Felt less like summer and more like autumn.. autumn? More about that in another post.  Today I'm going to show you our pantry makeover..  It started out dingy with sagging shelves and an overall mess.. We started by removing all the existing shelves.. sanding and priming.. and then painted yellow :) white wire shelves, drawers and a rack on the side.. Home Depot can cut the shelves to any size you like. I can not believe the amount of space I have! I love the addition of drawers.. and the rack is my favorite. DIY Skinny Table

Image
In our living room, behind our gray sofa we needed a skinny table. Somewhere to place our coffee cup while we sat on the couch, a place for other little this and that's. Our sofa is lower and longer than standard making the pickings a bit slim. Plus with our dinning table being in close proximity we didn't want a very wide table.. making pickings even slimmer. Pinterest was full of great projects.. to get the idea ball rolling. I lost most of the progress pictures when my computer crashed but the idea was simple.. two planks of wood, one for the top and one cut to size to make two legs. And we bought a set of decorative brackets to make it pretty and a step above basic. We ended up adding a second plank of wood for added stability. a little wood filler and some sanding and then we needed to decide what color to paint it.. we swayed between a bright yellow to a navy blue.. We decided to go with a beautiful deep midnight blue..  we picked the shade from the blue in th
