At Work was taken way back in 2007. It is a picture of my then maid, Sakina in her small and modest home where I captured her hands as she used two rocks to grind herbs and spices to make that nights meal. This is a method still used in homes where a mechanical grinder is a luxury and not a necessity. According to Sakina and her mother, herbs ground on a rock maintain the rich flavors that are often lost by all our machines. This photograph was Exhibited at the Art Gallery House 2012 and Featured in a PictoryMag Showcase but surprisingly never been sold. Lets change that and give this gorgeous piece a home. At Work will be a great addition to you kitchen, dinning room.. and every other room. Looking for a unique hostess gift or a little something for your friend who loves to cook. The print is available in a variety of price points and can be custom framed and ready to hang. Buy Here Get my post directly in you inbox with  Bloglovin I am now also offering ad space.

100 Hugs

Image
When I was pregnant with H, D started this new thing.. huggy time. Ten.. Twelve times a day he would come up to either M or I and state that it was huggy time.. during dinner, while driving, in the middle of the night and pretty much all other times in between. Now as his vocabulary has increased and his thoughts are evolving he requests 100 hugs. He likes to hear us whisper the count. Now while I am all about hugs.. and I want to squeeze in as many huggable moments as I possibly can in the short time that I have before my hugs become 'embarrassing' rolling eyes they are not always convenient to give especially when I have a fussy H in my arms or I am feeding him etc.. so sometimes.. more often that not we may skip a few numbers.. Well our little smarty pants has caught on.. and now he insists he do the counting.. plus three kisses on each cheek. :)  source   source If I could I'd hug him forever... Little H on the other hand doesn't comprehend the conce

Dried Markers to Water Colors!

Image
With birthdays come presents and sometimes the unexpected happens. Among D's presents was a big packet of 46 markers. The very next day D was ready to make some drawings and color with his new markers.. unfortunately we found all 46 of them dry. Pinterest to the rescue!  1.Grab some small containers.. I seem to have an abundance of baby food jars.. 2. Fill containers halfway with water 3. Place markers 4. Wait for the water to change color. We waited until the next day. 5. Paint! In all honesty I like these even better than actual water colors. Usually keeps dipping his brush in the water and never seems to get enough paint.. here it is a perfect balance of paint and water. : ) Get my post directly in you inbox with  Bloglovin I am now also offering ad space.  See  Sponsors  for more information .  Newsletter Sign Up - Let's Stay Connected, Shall We?

Shroom Climbing was taken a few autumns ago on the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire. Kancamagus meaning The Fearless One. It is a 26.5 mile long scenic byway along Route 112 which runs through the White Mountains. Along the stunningly scenic route there are no gas stations, no eateries just pure nature. Scattered along the two lane byway are parking areas, view points, hiking trails, rivers and gorges. On one of our many hikes through the White Mountain I came across this gorgeous growth of chocolate brown mushrooms at the foot of a mint green mossy tree. I was mesmerized. D Turns Four!

Image
In June our little D turned four.. 4! We can hardly believe it.. I was really excited to plan his fourth birthday.. we didn't have parties for the last two and this was the first year he actually understood the concept of a birthday.. his birthday. A few months before the big event I presented him with theme ideas courtesy of my Pinterest Birthday Board . His pick.. an Alphabet Themed Party. I was not particularly surprised... the kid has 26 imaginary friends.. can you guess who? And so the planning began.. The Invite. The Party Favors: i found these adorable personalized alphabet coloring books.. tied them with a string, attached a bag of candy and finished them off with a balloon at the end. [lessons learned] don't buy personalized favors, even after RSVPing people decide to not show up and now I have coloring books with other kids names on them. Balloon, long string and a super windy day equal a jumbled mess of favors we had to untangle and untie! The Plan wa

Knock on wood.. but I have had another very good week.  Violet Queen has always been a favorite and is one of my top sellers.. it is on it's way to California right now. I love it when someone orders an enlargement of one of my photographs. I just don't think a 4x6 does justice to it.. but when framed above you mantel as a 30x45.. now that is going to be a statement piece.. a conversation starter.. The Weaver is lucky.. he get's to be one of those pieces.  The Mustard Door was bought as a present. Art is a very personal thing and when someone choose one of my pieces to gift to someone I am honored. I hope he or she loves it. Pantry Makeover

Image
We are back from our weekend getaway with our friends, it was a beautiful weekend even though it was surprisingly chilly.. Felt less like summer and more like autumn.. autumn? More about that in another post.  Today I'm going to show you our pantry makeover..  It started out dingy with sagging shelves and an overall mess.. We started by removing all the existing shelves.. sanding and priming.. and then painted yellow :) white wire shelves, drawers and a rack on the side.. Home Depot can cut the shelves to any size you like. I can not believe the amount of space I have! I love the addition of drawers.. and the rack is my favorite.
