Spending a Day in Zurich

Image
We had breakfast at the hotel before leaving Wengen. It was a two and half hour journey to Zurich. We arrived in Zurich famished and instead of waiting to get to the hotel and then searching for food we stopped to grab a meal at the train station. We shared rice and noodle bowl from Rice Up Then we checked into our hotel which was conveniently located across the street from the train station and next to Bahnhofstrasse (the 5th ave or Champ Eleysees of Zurich). Once we were refreshed we headed out to explore a bit. We meandered until we reach Lake Zurich.  But first we stumbled upon this cute bakery called Garde Manger. We sat along the River Limmat and sipped our coffees and enjoyed our fresh and delicious treats.  We wandered some more until we reach the tip of Lake Zurich. From there we hopped onto a bus that took us to the Lindt Chocolate Factory. I shared the post last week.. you can check it out here if you missed it.  After the tour we were pretty tired so we came back to Zurich

A Day Spent in Athens

Image
We took an early morning flight out of Santorini and found ourselves back in Athens in our earlier hotel, Estia Boutique Apartments. It was not yet time for check in so we dropped off our things and headed off in search for breakfast.   We ate at Picky Cafe in the Psyri area. We had about a day and a half in Athens and not much of an itinerary, our to do list had the Acropolis on it and then our plan was just to wander around and explore the neighborhoods of Psyri, Monastiraki and Plaka and Ermou street. The Little Kook was an over the top Alice and Wonderland themed restaurant.  Because we had such an early start we were feeling a little tired.. so we stopped for some lunch at Cadillac Burgers. Their fries were ridiculously good.  Athens too was excruciatingly hot so we decided to take an afternoon break and headed back to our  hotel to check in and cool off. In the late afternoon we headed out again.. straight towards the Acropolis. The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel locat

Three Days in Santorini

Image
We woke up in Naxos, had a quick breakfast before getting on another ferry to Santorini. This time we took World Champion Seajets. Unlike our earlier ferry this one was huge, could carry cars and was filled to the brim. It was also a little fancier than our last ferry and the hour and fifteen minutes simply slipped away. But we were not in the least bit prepared for what happened when we disembarked.  It was a zoo! Thankfully we had asked the hotel to collect us but how does one even located the driver in this madness.. the picture I now realize does not fully showcase the madness. We eventually located the fella but saw so many people struggling to find a taxi.  The driver dropped us off near a church in Fira.. we were initially a bit confused but then a porter arrived and took our luggage down many many flights of winding steps until we finally reached our hotel, Cori Rigas. We chose to stay in Fira, the capital of Santorini instead of the tourist hot spot Oia. And we made the correc
