The Story Of Us

I just about disappeared there didn't I? And it wasn't even to do anything fun.. :( Remember the powder room renovations I spoke about in my last post .. which was over a month ago.. well after getting 90% off it completed we hit a bit of a bump in the road.. while in Morocco last spring we found and impulsively purchased a handmade brass sink and faucet. While we did place a call to our contractor friend before making the purchase, it never occurred to any of us that the supply lines in the US are different from those in Europe. So while we have been searching for a solution none has been found :( Additionally, the little DIY I was working on took on a life of its own and while we estimated it would take a week or so to do it ended up taking a month. A month of doing nothing else.. argh! It turned out beautifully and I'll hopefully share it all with you very soon it was murderous work. We have been busy. We are doing some renovations. Say bye bye to this ugly brown powder room and I'm working on a not so little DIY as well.. so long ugly floor. Hello everyone.. hope where ever you are you have a little warmth. Our weather is still on the fritz, a mix of 40’s to late 60’s. :( We are back from our trip but before I get into the details I need to share a little of what’s been going on.. We were at the tail end of our trip when my sister in law (brother’s wife) had a baby boy! Weeks earlier than expected, so unexpected that my brother wasn’t even in the country for the big day :( So when we returned home from our trip on Monday night we already had tickets booked to fly out again on Thursday morning. Unthinkable for M to get more days off the boys and I flew out to meet the new little guy. D had three days worth of homework to entertain him on the plane and a diorama project waiting for him when we returned due on Monday which we thought we’d have the week to do. We were there for barely two days. M’s sister also lives in Houston so the boys were able to meet so many of their little cousins, D reigning over them as the

The year has just begun and I feel like it's already passing by in a blur. Early in the month H had his birthday party .. we had requested no boxed gifts, thankfully most people complied and with those gift cards we got H a gift we thought he'd love.. and he did love it.. for about a week! and then one Saturday morning he asked me to sell it. They have understood the fact that mommy likes to sell the things no one is using and or things we do not need.. and so now he quite often asks me to sell his broken toys, used crayons and so on so forth. After double and triple checking with him M packed it up and off it went to another child's house who will hopefully love and play with it for longer than a few days. What H does love are his Lego's and Magformers.  What we have here is a Booger Cleaner.. it's for the kids who like to eat their boogers.. when the stomach becomes full of boogers you put this in your mouth and it'll suck out all the boog

hey guys.. here we are in November.. as the year winds down I have been obsessed with winter cleaning.. I have taken it upon myself to wash the walls.. my mother's friend had this brilliant idea to use a Swiffer to wash the walls and I am loving it.. every weekend I pick a room and Swiffer away.. and when I see those little smudging toddler finger prints vanish it fills me with joy..  This is something I do all year around but with holiday shopping around the corner I have been doing it more often.. going through the house and finding things we have no need for and selling them on ebay . I haven't blogged in a bit. Since the summer vacations started things have been busier that I had expected. Ramadan ended and we let off some steam by having friends and family over, then being invited by friends. Also pretty much immediately started D's crash course swim class.. he hadn't been making much progress with all the years of classes he has taken so when someone recommended a crash course they claimed worked wonders with their child I signed him up.. it was a bit of a drive which meant I lost 3 hours every morning but D learnt how to swim.. So I am a believer and we will be doing this crash course every summer.  We have been trying our hand at growing a few things this year.. my mother in law is growing mint and coriander while I'm growing strawberries. It has been an inconsistent crop.. we get like two red strawberries every few days and most have so far been consumed by H so we can't be sure if they even taste sweet.   D turned 7 and m

and we are already nearing the end of January.. what did we accomplish this month? so much.. and a whole lotta nothing. D finished reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.. and has moved on to James and the Giant Peach. Over the weekend we binged on the sinfully decedent Godiva Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory while watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie, the Gene Wilder one of course! We also discovered this month that D got accepted to an advance reading and advanced math class!! This deserves some celebrating and we have the perfect reward in mind.. Did you know there is a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical on Broadway?! Silly hat day in school H has some skills of his own.. he is talking up a storm! He is quick witted and has a clever reply to anything we throw at him. While mostly amusing it get's difficult to keep a straight face when trying to tell him no! Remember my little tumble on the stairs.. well as you know I didn't get to rest a lot and while I tried to sneak in a little rest here and there why ankle still hurts.. and now the pain has started to radiate throughout my leg.. there should be a rule against mom's being sick/hurt! So three weeks after the initial injury I limped on over to meet with an orthopedic doctor.. meet my latest stylish accessory and thanks to Mr. AirCast I can not fit into any of my boots or cute shoes..! Four more weeks the doctor said :(  Don't start to feel bad for me just yet.. it gets better! While M was picking D up from somewhere he spotted a friend and while waving to him he managed to poke himself in the eye.. Now try waving and see how hard it is to poke yourself in the eye..not easy. I just have a really talented husband. :) Eye drops and a little drops seemed like the solution.. but when he woke up the next morning he was still in pain. So off to the ER... again T

I know it feels like I just did a lately post.. but I guess I just haven't been blogging enough lately. I am sick, coughing up a storm. H is teething and is just now finally starting to sleep more than a few hours during the night so with sickness I was also severely sleep deprived. A lot has been going on lately. Last time I showed you some paint being mixed... well the room has been painted now more things are being painted the same color.. we hope to put at least 50%  of it together during the weekend.. finger crossed.. but painting.. doing anything really with a nosy baby is impossible.. we have a huge house filled with toys.. but the only room he wants to be in is the one with the paint. By the way little H is climbing stairs now.. we have baby gated everything. So he now sits by the gate trying to figure out how to open them.. ps can you believe he is now ten months old! I had also mentioned some contractors.. well they have arrived and work on the basement has begun..

it's been busy around here.. TV has been mounted on the brick wall.. harder than it seems. Curtain's have been found, bought and hung.. i promise pictures will come soon.. we've been so busy doing that I haven't found the time to take pictures.. and I usually have to hide all the baby toys and laundry lying around before I take any pictures.. I shall continue to live in the denial that I have a tidy house : ) We have a space near the garage and laundry room area that is sort of in limbo.. so we built some shoe organizers and a giant calender.. we'll call it command central.. again pictures to come soon I promise! Lately.. -life has been crazy busy yet uneventful. M got a new job so his hours have been a bit long.. and his absence make us seem incomplete.. plus it makes him more tired and and give this pregnant woman no time to relax. So I snuck in a morning massage after dropping D off at school. And the thing I realized, I can not shut off my brain. The whole hour I tried to empty my mind and stop thinking but I couldn't, then I started to think about how I couldn't stop thinking! I this a girl thing or an A type personality crazy person thing? -my dishwasher has been broken for over a month now.. and my wonderfully incompetent tech first ordered the wrong part and now they say the part aren't available.. at all! Guess we have to buy a new one.. but the space under our counter is smaller than average so that limits our choices.. :( dish washing is not good for my back. -i have successfully and uneventfully  (thank god) made it to my third trimester.. wohoo.. but also sca
