The Story Of Us

This was really one hell of a year.. eventful is an understatement. D and I spent two months in Karachi  joined my M in the last two weeks. We spent three amazing days in Istanbul 1 2 3 And Labor Day weekend was spent with family in Houston My little brother got married.. it was one long wedding but so much fun 1 2 3 4 5 We got pregnant ! Moved! I made my 117th sale! Finished editing photographs taken in Egypt and Iran Dressed up for our first Halloween ! We hired a  Contractor and started to remodel.. check out all we've done so far here The birth of little H just missed the list.. This has.. had been quite a year.. can't wait to see what the next year.. this year has in store for us! How was your 2013? Any plans already in motion for 2014? Trips waiting to be taken? pinterest So we hired our first contractor to help us create an open floor plan in our kitchen/family room. The work involved knocking down a wall, installing a window, new flooring etc. Didn't seem like much, just not something we were willing to try do ourselves. We started with an estimate in mind.. but having no experience we had no idea what to expect. I started by picking up the Home Improvement Guide at our grocery store.. picked out a few names of contractors and Googled them. Checked out their website, saw if they had any reviews or complaints and then made phone calls. We had a total of six contractors come out and give us estimates. You don't need to get six estimates.. but I would recommend getting at least three. We met an interesting mix of people. Of the six two declared our wall, separating the kitchen from the family room load bearing (this makes it a bit more pricey and difficult to knock down, but still doable). And then there were four. As promised one more BIG news to announce.. we moved! Same state just an hour further south.. apartment to house.. urban to suburban.. all we're missing now is the picket fence. So this will probably mean more home decor idea's on the blog, DIY's and before and afters and not to forget cute baby pictures.. can never tire of those right? Right now I am still trying to unpack.. finding a place to put all of our stuff and trying not to just nap. Happy Labor Day!
