Yesterday we celebrated Eid. But today is not an Eid post. We still have more celebrating into next weekend so I will do an official Eid post next Monday. Hopefully with lots of pictures.  Instead today is a book post. It has not been a good reading month. More misses than hits but oh well. Sunshine series by Darynda Jones Synopsis - Sheriff Sunshine Vicram finds her cup o' joe more than half full when the small village of Del Sol, New Mexico, becomes the center of national attention for a kidnapper on the loose. Del Sol, New Mexico is known for three things: its fry-an-egg-on-the-cement summers, strong cups of coffee - and, now, a nationwide manhunt? Del Sol native Sunshine Vicram has returned to town as the elected sheriff - thanks to her adorably meddlesome parents who nominated her--and she expects her biggest crime wave to involve an elderly flasher named Doug. But a teenage girl is missing, a kidnapper is on the loose, and all of this is reminding Suns...

Welcome to present day.. we have put all our December travel posts behind us but if you follow me on Instagram I still have loads of videos to share.. More exciting is that spring break is coming up and we have another adventure planned. Today in our 18th day of fasting. And honestly the last 17 days went by quiet quickly. Life gets very busy during Ramadan.. each days starts to blur into the next. D is not fasting this year but H has fasted for 9 days so far.  Speaking of D, we are officially on month 9 of his treatment. For those not in the know I posted about his condition here . While it has been a long road we have made progress. We are currently in a medication reduction phase of treatment. Every two weeks we are lessening the dosage of his eye drops and so far we have seen no regression so yay! He is also doing well.. in fact he was awarded student of the month.  Reading has been slow.. mainly because I am stuck in a series. I have started the final book but I am not l...

This is my last photograph from my hand series. It was part of a school project and I needed to have a certain amount of photographs and well I was struggling to fill in that last spot. So this was a little experiment. I found a pane of glass, painted my hand with red paint, a flashlight and well this was the result.  This print and other products can be purchased  here  and here .                                            Etsy             Instagram             Twitter             Redbubble             Zazzle

Two Days in Tucson

Image
Continuing with our winter trip to Arizona. For those who are new here, we started our trip in   Page   then headed to   Vegas . We took a day trip to   Valley of Fire   and then went to the beautiful city of   Sedona . On our  way to Tucson we made a quick stop at Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch .  After checking in to our hotel and taking a little break we headed out to downtown Tucson, we didn't even park.. we drove around but didn't seem bustling with activity or people.. Next we headed to 4th ave in the Historic District. It was a fun street with lots of shops, a bit on the sketchy side but nothing dangerous. We checked out some of the thrift stores until it was time for dinner.  We ate at El Charro Cafe, founded in 1922, is the oldest Mexican restaurant in Tucson; the original owner, Monica Flin, is said to have invented the chimichanga.   Everything was so good! The next day after a quick hotel breakfast we visite...

Another hand photograph from the archives. In South Asia, on joyous occasions like weddings we purchase garlands made of rose and place them around the necks of the happy couple. There are different types of garlands made for different occasions. This photograph is off a man's hands as he is threading roses onto a string onto thread.  This print can be purchased  here .                                                                   Etsy             Instagram             Twitter             Redbubble             Zazzle

Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch

Continuing with our winter trip to Arizona. For those who are new here, we started our trip in Page then headed to Vegas . We took a day trip to Valley of Fire and then went to the beautiful city of Sedona . We are now headed to Tucson but before we get there we made a little stop on the way at Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch. It was 3 hours from Sedona and an hour away from Tucson. Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch is a three generation family owned and operated working ostrich ranch. They have been open to the public since 1999 when it was just the ostrich to feed. Now joining the ostrich are Miniature Sicilian Donkeys, Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Fallow Deer, Peking Ducks, Boer Goats, and the all-time favorite Rainbow Lorikeets.    It is $12 per person, all animal feed is included. There is an extra $3 to feed the sting ray. We skipped the sting rays.  The ostrich were super aggressive. If you didn't hold on tight they'd steal the whole cup. Here's a video ...
