We have been busy. We are doing some renovations. Say bye bye to this ugly brown powder room


and I'm working on a not so little DIY as well.. so long ugly floor.


My mom stopped by for a few days.. and we tried to make the most of it.. the kids cried when she left and they are currently sleeping in the guest room where she slept because they just miss her so much  :(

    It is sad to say good bye to grandparents but also wonderful when they are able to come and visit for a few days. My mum is our only surviving grandparent and the kids adore her. She lives abroad and we don't see her often. It is lovely to see your mum reading books and playing games with your boys.

    We have a similar floor in one of our bathrooms, though the pattern is smaller and it's blue. 😊

    Awwww....what sweet little guys you have! I'm so glad they had a wonderful time with their grandmother. I'll look forward to seeing your bathroom renovation. I'd love that floor if it were in white with black. I have a bathroom that seriously needs to get re-done, too. It's so 1970's. You have a beautiful family but your hubby looks a little like his teeth might be clenched a bit? LOL!

And how sweet that they are sleeping in the guest room because they miss her. She must adore them! My daughter is home on spring break right now and I'm soaking up every minute. Kitchen and Family Room: New Flooring

When the wall between our family room and kitchen see details here came down we had to deal with two different flooring, old carpet and newish laminate. The plan was to find the same laminate.. we found the box in the basement, how hard could it be? Harder than we thought.. that particular one had been discontinued.. and finding something similar was not an easy task..  Finding a flooring that was kind of close but not close enough would seem like a mistake.. so we decided to go different, this way it would seem like an intentional design choice.. I had always wanted a chocolaty dark floor.. The next thing to take into consideration was the transition between the two floors.. generally what is used it a T- Moulding, that strip you see in the above picture connecting the two floors together. Not the prettiest option. Pinterest to the rescue..  Adding tile to the mix would help to blend the two different brown together and there would be no awkward bump in the floori

D's Amazing Race Party

Last weekend our eldest turned 9.. and we threw him an amazing race birthday party! As with all the boys other parties.. I bought a plain white cake from Wegmans and let D decorate it himself. We had a total of nine kids.. they picked bandanna's out of a bag to create 3 teams. First Task Not all the kids knew each other.. they were too amped up with the idea of winning that they couldn't manage to calm down and read the clue.. so we had to really guide them through it.. they made mistakes and we let it go.. it seemed a tad chaotic..  Second Task I had 33 little medicine cups filled with M&M's and Goldfish crackers.. 6 of them had stickers on the bottom. The first two teams found the sticker in the first try... what are the odds!? And the third team had to eat a lot of snacks before they finally found their sticker. Third Task I bought 48 piece puzzles from the Dollar Tree. The boys took their time making
