The Magic of Disney

Image
We had been meaning to go on a family vacation for a while now.. M's sister lives in Houston with her husband and two kids.. there is our family and M's parents. So imagine us.. 6 adults and 4 kids between the ages of 2 and 6 all getting off our respective early morning flights and heading straight to the parks.. Our minivan overflowing with suitcases and strollers! We were travelling with Disney virgins.. we who have spent all of one day in Magic Kingdom less than two years ago were the Disney experts?! Our trip consisted of three days.. a day per park.. and I know that's a bit hectic but with all the kids I don't think we could have handled any more than three magical days. Our first park of choice was Epcot. There we all are.. embracing the magic.  Mission Space was a bit too much for my sister in law to handle.. :( Test drive was fun especially with D being able to design a car.. Soarin was without a doubt the highlight of the park. I was the

Sea World, Orlando

Image
Our last day in Orlando was spent at Sea World. The park was a mix of highs and lows.. but at the end of the day how could you not leave happy after seeing whales and dolphins. This was another cold day.. it was a bit disappointing to leave the snowy Jersey weather and fly down to the Sunshine State only to be cold and in our winter jackets! We started the day off with some pictures with Shamu.. Our first stop was at the Turtle Trek.. we were not exactly sure what to expect.. we walked by Manatee's and Turtles.. until we got to a round room with a round 360 degree dome ceiling.. there was no place to sit.. everyone was to simply stand and wear their 3D glasses.. what began was the tale of one little sea turtle emerging from its egg and onto an epic journey through the sea, the challenges it faces as it grows and makes its way back to the beach it hatched on. It was amazing.. I have no words to describe the awe we all felt.  Next we hurried over to the Dolphin Theater t

I know this post is about a month overdue but I've had my hands full. But better late than never right? We had a fabulous week of warmth and sunshine.. just a tad rain and the waters could have been warmer but it felt good to shed our coats and sweaters and bring our flip flops out of hiding. We spent time splashing in the pool, M had missed out on all of D's swim classes and the only splashing he had seen was in the bath so it was great to see father and son get in some pool time. But D loved the sand so much more.. he was fascinated by the grain and texture, the way it fell from his fingers.. and the ebb and flow of the waves.. giving me a lot of time of just laying on beach chairs and enjoying him at play and reading.. We rented a car and toured the island which is not very big and covered with cacti.. millions and billions of cacti.. a light house, a few gold mine ruins, several beaches as well as dessert like terrain. We took a semi
