Looking Back at 2016
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year..
Last year was all about renovations.. we re-did the master bath, the master bedroom, D's room and H's room too..
We also worked on our formal living room but I haven't had the chance to blog about it yet.. It is a large space and simply figuring out what to do with it was our greatest challenge, here's a glimpse
We also re-did our patio and some of our landscaping.. that is still not complete..
This is not the condition it is in now.. we have a walkway and stairs.. most of it is done.. just the last and very important 10% is left.. waiting for spring.
And when we weren't working on the house we traveled or made plans to travel. We made a weekend visit to Boston then we went to Karachi for one of my best friends weddings..

We stayed in our first Airbnb in a foreign country!! Then spent a glorious week in Denmark. Spending our days in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Hillerod
We started off our December with family in Disney World
And as I write this post I am beginning to plan our next trip.. we're thinking road trip! We are hoping to visit the Carolinas and Georgia this spring so for those of you who live there or have been there send me your tips and suggestions.
So jealous of your resolutions and travels. Looks like you guys had a fun and productive year :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a successful 2016! Work on the house is exhausting and expensive, but when it's done it's SO nice.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Hena, and I wish you and your family a wonderful 2017!
Your living room is so pretty! You should put your photos up on the walls. You have nice furniture too dear.

Oh my goodness I am jealous of your travels! I would love to visit those countries and I miss florida too....plus my grandparents are there. I am hoping to get out to see them this year! Happy new year... xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks. I hope you do too :)
DeleteOh to be planning a trip!! I hope to have something fun happening this year, but not sure what. Maybe we will help our daughter and son in law move back to the East coast (squee!) however, my son in law needs to land a job :) Happy New Year!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year. Fingers crossed he'll find one and you guys will ve able to be closer
DeleteYou've had such a good, productive year, Hena. Lots of improvements in your home and lots of enriching experiences. You're hard workers. I think your new travel plans sound wonderful. I was born in Georgia and lived there until I was almost six; if I remember more about it, I could be helpful. I do remember loving to visit (and hike) Stone Mountain when we lived nearby.
ReplyDeleteThank you! The Carolinas and Georgia are rich in nature and mountains. Thinking we may need to visit again when the kids are older and more able. Will look into Stone Mountain :)
DeleteGetting your house renovated is always such fun! Your living room looks very minimalist compared to my cluttered place. I've driven through Georgia, but never explored it. We don't travel much in the States I'm afraid.

Thank you.. it is currently the least used room in the house which is most likely how I have managed to keep it clutter free..
DeleteWe haven't gone on a road trip since having our second child.. so it'll be interesting to see how it all works out.
What a lovely sofa set in your living room. How do you keep it clean with two, active boys around? Man, my daughter drew on the walls in our apt back in the day with Sharpie and tried to pin it on her sister, LOL. I love reading about your trips and seeing your captured moments on IG. We need to work on our house this year. Our front is ghetto compared to all of our neighbors'. I want to paint our entryway and hallway at least and get the girls' closets the closet rack system since they have small space.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever watched Everybody Loves Raymond? That room is like Raymond's mom's house.. the sofa's and carpet is kept covered expect when we are expecting company.. and my mother is law is here to enforce the rule of no going into that room.. lol though they still manage to always hide in that room when playing hide n seek.
DeleteHouse projects are always exhausting but so rewarding in the end. Look forward to see what you do
ohh gorgeous interior! xO!

Wow, you have been busy! It sure looks like you have a lovely home, so it has been worth it. Happy New Year to you, Hena!
ReplyDeleteI live in GA! Flat land with lots of pine trees, but definitely worth a visit one day.
ReplyDeleteWow what a year! I love seeing all of the house updates! A road trip is a great idea. My mom took us on a road trip from New Hampshire down to South Carolina while I was still in school. We stayed in a cabin near Charleston. It is still one of my favorite vacations. Happy New Year to your family!
ReplyDeletethat's great to hear.. I am looking forward to walking the streets of Charleston and Savannah
DeleteLooks like a wonderful year for you and your family! I'm in the South and Asheville visiting the Biltmore is always lovely... lots of things down this way :-) Hope you have a fantastic 2017! Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jill
Thank You! We were looking into Biltmore but after already having seen so many castles and palaces in Europe not sure how different a house could be.
