Toys For 3 Year Olds

Image
My brother is coming to visit next week and my mom later in the month and they both very conveniently task me with buying the boys a little something from them. D is easy; books, puzzles, board games. He is the eldest so we are always looking to bring new things into the home allowing new experiences. H is a little harder. We still have so many of D's toddler toys around the house that rarely think of getting him something. I know.. I feel the guilt. So the past few days I have been on the look out for toys for 3 year old boys   My go to when picking a toy is always something educational .. I love a great puzzle  or building toys.  Don't let that smile fool you.. I made those foam block castles, he's just waiting for me to give him the go so he can destroy my creations lol.  This is also a great time to introduce the little guy to some board games . I still remember D's first board game at age 3 was Richard Scarry's Busytown, H on the

It's Our Birthday!

I am celebrating my birthday today and M tomorrow.. wohoo. We may get a cake between the two of us that H will most probably cut for us and insist we sing Happy Birthday to him because in reality it's his birthday.. lol. When we first got married we would start celebrating the Friday night closest to our birthday and it would go on till the end of the weekend.. there was less celebrating once we had kids. Last year my mother was visiting around the time and we decided to change things up and went away to a local bed and breakfast for the night. This year we're hoping to do something similar but for longer than just the night and farther than just a drive away. SO EXCITED!!! I wanted to share some cute and funny cards I found online.. any of you still give greeting cards?   Scribbler   Wit and Whistle   Finch and the Fallow   Finch and the Fallow   Sioux Alice   Knotty Cards and here's a glimpse of the card D made for M

Heartbroken

I tried but I just couldn't bring myself to post about anything today.. this country that I call home is breaking my heart. To think we were in the land of the free.. it is not just the orange man and his actions it is the fact that half the country supported this man. We consider ourselves lucky to live in a state that is more diverse and accepting but not all states are such. And I pray for my fellow brown men, women and children whose lives will be so greatly affected by ignorance and fear of an incorrect stereotype.  I am moved to tears by the hope that flickers, when I see people of all colors, race and religion protesting against the injustices against one.. I see all the good in so many of my fellow American's and it reminds me of why I call this great country home. I don't like to get political on this blog but I don't really see this an being political. This is our lives, our future we are talking about and the side you are standing on today will shape

Mirrored  - When touring a museum in Iran I came across a ceiling covered in rectangular mirrors, interwoven to make for a beautiful sight. And it was there that I took his photograph. The slight tilt of my camera creates more interest in the picture. And a sepia tone gives it an aged look. You can buy this print  here . and we are already nearing the end of January.. what did we accomplish this month? so much.. and a whole lotta nothing. D finished reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.. and has moved on to James and the Giant Peach. Over the weekend we binged on the sinfully decedent Godiva Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory while watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie, the Gene Wilder one of course! We also discovered this month that D got accepted to an advance reading and advanced math class!! This deserves some celebrating and we have the perfect reward in mind.. Did you know there is a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical on Broadway?! Silly hat day in school H has some skills of his own.. he is talking up a storm! He is quick witted and has a clever reply to anything we throw at him. While mostly amusing it get's difficult to keep a straight face when trying to tell him no! Which is a lot.. he is very fiery strong willed child.  With D growing in
