Island Time

Good morning everyone. I'd like to start off by saying thank you everyone for your wonderful comments on Monday's post . You all were a big help, the votes are in, I hope to have Genevieve's gift ready to post by next week and I'll share with you the final result. I also want to share with you a project I am currently working on with some fellow New York artists. We co found a group this year called EARN and our IndieGoGo campaign just went live here  Our aim is to raise enough funds to rent a gallery space in Manhattan allowing us all to have a place to exhibit our work both as a group and as individuals. Pool together our resources and contacts and help each other grow. I would really appreciate it if you could help me spread the word and a contribution would be amazing. Thank you. Now getting to today's post.. remember how we went to Aruba back in December? I was so swamped with other projects.. mainly an ever energetic D that it wasn't till March that I

HGTV Celebrity Gifting

The travel posts have come to an end.. thank you all for joining us on the trip and leaving your lovely comments.. I love reading each and everyone one of them.. as for my more silent readers.. I would love to hear what you have to say.. Today I bring you some awesome news.. courtesy of the fabulous Artisan Group I have gotten the spectacular opportunity to gift none other than one of the darlings of HGTV Genevieve Gordor. I love her sense of style, she creates gorgeous spaces and has such heart. And I don't want to get my expectations to high but this gifting could have great potential. She is an interior decorator and don't they always need some fabulous art for their clients homes? But lets not get ahead of ourselves.. I still have the hardest job ahead of me and here I am asking for your advice yet again.. which photograph should I give her? It needs to be the essence of what I represent as an artist, intriguing enough to make her want to check out my website.. I am ge

Ocean City, New Jersey

We are at the end of the trip.. the trip we took at the end of May.. :) but I am enjoying the experience of reliving it through my posts. We are now back in New Jersey and stopped in none other than the Jersey Shore.. and saw our fair share of GTLers. Our hotel was in Somers Point just a few minutes and a bridge away from Ocean City. We spent all of our time on the boardwalk.. and spent some time in both Gillians Wonderland Pier and well as Playland's Castaway Cove.   D had his first ride..  we all sat on our first Ferris Wheel  and had our first funnel cake  We had breakfast at Uncle Bills Pancake House.. a nice breakfast but nothing out of this world.. why I bring it up is because of one of the reviews I read.. the reviewer called Uncles Bills 'the hoosters of high school girls' and she went on to say most people come to this particular pancake house to 'keep Dad happy - stare at the girls in their little dresses and think what he wants'

Ponies and Ferries

We left Virginia Beach early, we had a lot to do that day.. but even when in a hurry you still need breakfast. So we grabbed egg and cheese sandwiches on the go from Java Surf.. it looked like a fun hangout place.. books, instruments and board games lined the shelves and the menu was written on surf boards..  We grabbed our breakfast and hit the road. Destination: Chincoteague Island and how to get there? The Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It reminded me of the roads taken to get to Key West but so much better. It was early Friday morning so there was hardly anyone on it.. it was 23 miles of bridge and tunnel surrounded by the great blue sea. Pictures just do not do it justice.  Waiting for us on Chincoteague Island was a boat. Daisy's Cruises. I can not express just how perfect this trip was. The tour was of seven people including the captain and tour guide Tom. He does not take out large groups, he likes the two hour tours to be intimate and comfortable.

A Petting Zoo and Virginia Beach

We woke up in Richmond (this was almost a month ago, I can hardly believe it) we packed our bags for the fourth time while D chatted on the phone :)  Drove right across the street to Cracker Barrel and had a very good breakfast.. we were so hungry that I forgot to take pictures.. after our tummies were full we drove on over to Maymont Gardens. These gardens are so extensive that you need to drive to get to other parts of it. There was a little train for kids, plenty of place for picnics and play, a Japanese garden, Italian garden and much more. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to explore. Our main purpose for the stop was to take D to his first petting zoo.  The boy was afraid of just about everything there.. he didn't want to be put down, the goats were a bit too excited and hungry for his liking.. and then we found a sheep. The sheep was as mellow as a sheep can  possibly be.. D slowly approached him as he saw M petting him. I prayed for no sudden movement with

Skyline Drive, Virginia

After Washington we headed on to Virginia and the natural beauty of the Shenandoah National Park. Camping was not on the itinerary nor were we equipped to hike with D. Instead we opted to cruise along the 105 miles of the Skyline Drive. We entered through the north most entrance at Front Royal. There was a $15 fee which is valid for seven days. There are about 75 overlooks; reaching the heights of almost 4000ft but after the first 10 overlooks everything started to look the same.. and after the first few times of taking D out of the car and putting him back in he was annoyed and didn't want to get back in. The weather was perfect, everything so peaceful.  A little after the 30 mile marker we left the Skyline Drive using the Thornton Gap Entrance and headed into the town of Luray. Were we ate at the West Market Deli. Very good sandwiches.. our food karma had officially taken the turn for the better.  Next stop Luray Caverns. This was our second time visiting caves. Our first
