Growth Chart

Image
D is almost two years old now and making a growth chart for him has been on my to do list since before he was even born.. yes, that is how far behind I am on my list of things to do.. hey.. don't judge! I started with cardboard from the white corrugated display boards you can get at any Micheal's or Staples. Cut it in to pieces.   I attached the two pieces with colorful stripes of felt. I used a pliable material mainly so that it could be easily folded. Else I'd have D pulling at it and most probably doodling on it.. I also used the same colored felt as an edging. The back being brown and covered with writing I decided to glue on some colorful gift wrap, so that it looks nice folded. I marked D's height at 6 month intervals and glued a button at the end of every marking. Then I marked M and my height too.. yes that is me under the 5feet mark.. I added a jute loop to both sides of the chart to I could fold it and hang in D's room. and in other n

Over the weekend we picked out of a few of the many many creations D made in his art class  and framed them.  And then his father with his assistance of course put them up on the wall.  For those who can't get enough of me ; ) Pin with me on  Pinterest and get my post directly in you inbox with  Bloglovin Let's Stay Connected, Shall We?

Art Class with D

Image
These past few weeks D was taking a messy art class at the local Y. We were a small class of four to five kids which was perfect. It was interesting watching D, being the youngest in the class discover colors and paint, stamps and glue. A place where noodles were not meant to be eaten and getting your hands dirty was encouraged..  The getting messy part was not something he enjoyed.. in fact I was surprised that of the five kids there three had issues with getting dirty and either shied away from it or needed a constant had washing. Is it me or are kids supposed to love getting messy? It was until the very last day that D really opened up and was willing to dip his hand in paint and go crazy (as crazy as he can get) I thought this was a wonderful class.. there were many different activities and mediums to explore and a great way for D open up. I also got a glimpse into him at work.. and he reminded me of his dad.. focused and determined. At the end of

Jenny McCarthy

Image
Yes, it has happened again.. I am on a lucky streak and I hope it never ends.. Thanks to The Artisan Group I have been given the opportunity to gift the fabulously funny Jenny McCarthy. Now from what I have been able to gather so far she does not like clutter. Her decor style is modern. She likes color and texture as well as nature.  So here's the breakdown: Modern: Down the Rabbit Hole Nature and Colorful (as colorful as my usual somber work is) Aloe     Dipped Purple   Growth  Colorful and Textural   Mosaic Entwined I need to pick one.. I am leaning toward the mosaic with the heart for the more sentimental reason of her being a mother, the mother of an autistic child. She is a strong woman, an advocate for not only her child but so many other children and their families.  What do you think? Any more ideas or suggestions?  A Facebook Fan suggested Sitting Blue . What do you think? It is a favorite of mine and so man
