Where do I even begin? The weather has been awful, cold, gray and rainy on more days than I care for. Turns out we haven't had a rain free weekend since March 2nd!  We have just over a month of school left. I am ready for summer. It is getting harder and harder to wake up with that darn alarm every morning. But getting closer to end of year also means D graduating middle school and all the festivities that go with it. They already had their field trip to Philadelphia, second week of June the graduating class will be having a massive pool party, there is the dance which D is adamant about not attending and then of course graduation!  But it's not all fun and games.. he also has some big end of year projects he is working on. One of which I think might interest you.  He is working on a book report per se. He read the book Legend by Marie Lu . For his project he has to break down the books six most significant moments and give them a soundtrack. Yes you read that right.. projects

Montmorency Falls and Montreal

Image
Did you know that just 15 minutes outside of Quebec City is a waterfall taller than Niagara Falls? I didn't either. But once I found out I knew we had to go.  We drove to Montmorency Falls. There was a ticket to enter the falls. Once inside the visitor section we were offered a few ways to go up and down the falls. We took the cable car to the manor (additional ticket),walked along the suspension bridge and then made our way down the red staircase and walked across the river to make our way back to the visitor center. Across from where the picture is taken you can see the staircase we come down after crossing the suspension bridge.. they look scary but were thankfully sturdy.   Now on to Montreal. We stopped for burgers on the way to Montreal. Have you ever eaten St. Hubert's chicken burgers? Omg.. they were so good.  When we got to Montreal our first stop was Mount Royal. We dro ve up to the parking lot nearest Kondiaronk Belvedere and then walked the rest of the train to get

A Quick Canadian Getaway (part one)

Image
In mid April the kids had two days off school and we all needed a little break so on Friday afternoon we hopped into the car and headed to Canada.  We drove straight through with minimum breaks and crossed the Canadian border just after 8pm. Our first stop was Quebec City. Another two hours we were pulling up to the hotel, Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. We were relieved to be out of the car.. we checked in and quickly fell into bed.  This was our second time visiting Quebec City.. you can read about the first time here  and we looked like this.. The goal of this little trip was to not have a goal.. to just roam and eat and enjoy. And so we did. We started off with breakfast at Les Trois Garcons. and then as planned we wandered, stepped into shops and reminisced how teeny tiny D was the last time we were here.. and then we smelled the most delicious smell. POPCORN We stepped into the wondrous Mary's Popcorn. So many yummy smells, so many different flavors. We ended up leaving with a
