The Weekend

Image
Our weekend.. especially all the food consumed He has perfected the pout but I finally caught it on camera.. in fact he was so angry with me he even let me make a video of him tell me to 'go away!' two going on fourteen?  We had to make a quick stop at the mall.. which of course would have been incomplete with a ride on the carousel. And getting some chocolate covered strawberries from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. They also have some of the best caramel apples!  D's class had caterpillars as their class pet.. come spring they had become beautiful butterflies. So the children made and wore these butterfly headbands as they celebrated the release of the butterflies. On Friday M came home a little early and the boys tossed around a ball before dinner. I made some banana chocolate chip cake balls.. donut holes. Nothing fancy.. just a snack for the boys.  The boys attempting to shuck corn while we fire up the grill..

The Highline Park and Chelsea Market

This year we had a great memorial day weekend.. the perfect balance of activity and relaxation.. the only thing lacking was sleeping in.. but we haven't slept in in over five years so we know better than to expect that! M worked from home on Friday and right after lunch we piled into the car just before nap time and headed to New York City. The destination was the High Line Park and the Chelsea Market .. after living so close to the city for over seven years we realized there is so much of the city we haven't yet explored.. in fact I sometimes think we have barely seen it at all.. so from now on we hope to venture into a new part of the city every time.. so for my New York readers.. tell me where should we explore next? I had wanted to visit the High Line Park ever since I had heard of it.. and for those who haven't heard of it the park is an elevated linear urban space converted from an old and unused railway. And the Chelsea Market.. once the Nabisco Factory.. where

Istanbul: Day Two

We started day two with a trip to the Spice Bazaar delightful place, delectable smells.. and even a few free samples nom nom. and then made our way over the Galata Bridge.. not much to see there.. a lot of fishy smells and a pass if you don't want to catch fish or eat fish. We grabbed a taxi to Taksim Square which was a let down. The whole place was under construction.. so D grabbed a quick snack and we had some cafe lattes to refuel.. We grabbed another taxi to Dombalache Palace.. nice grounds but not much too ooh and aah over after you've seen the garden's and grounds of Versailles (there is that whole we've become jaded story.. it's unfortunate but true) and we ended up not going inside the Palace as they was an almost two hour wait for a 45 minutes mandatory guided tour.. bummer. this is what D did through most of our trip. Meaning everything took double the time.. he even insisted on carrying it up the stairs himself! Another tax
