Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween everyone! We had a party at our home on Saturday.. spent Sunday recovering and cleaning. And today H went dressed up, he will have a parade and a class party and then trick or treating at night. D cares a lot less as he is 'older' now.
By now I feel like I have already done most of the ideas.. and I don't want to making the more crazy elaborate things out there on the internet. I want to keep entertaining fun and honestly as long as the food is good our friends don't care.
The original plan was to have a drizzle of fake blood and some candy eyeballs but my fake blood turned out too watery and I didn't have more ingredients, then I asked M if he could run out and get me some black decorating gel to make Jack Skellington faces. He couldn't find any. So then idea three.. thankfully it worked and I was able to put the kids to work on this one.
I have been hosting the Halloween party for years now.. it is low key.. so crazy elaborate costumes.. we mostly stick to cat ears and scary masks.. it's more about the getting together than anything else. Initially I put in a lot of effort with themed food.

So this time I went with an Asian theme and made this with noodles, this with rice, this salad, Costco vegetable spring rolls and the best coconut soup which no matter how much I make we never have leftovers, plus these for dessert. And yes I forgot to take pictures. I am not big on following recipes.. mainly in regard to the spices.. we like everything spicier than normal.
I did take pictures of the dessert..

ReplyDeleteIt looks like your home is ready for the party. I understand about getting tired of elaborate food art. It can be a lot of work. Happy Halloween!

ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a great party. Yeah, you can go too far with the food, and why? There's a point when going to all that trouble is too much.

ReplyDeleteThe party sounds great. The kids will remember how you celebrated Hallowe’en for sure. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThats quite the party you had! Love all the decorations, especially the watermelon and other hors doeuvres. We are having a low-key Halloween and living where we do, we have not had trick or treaters for years.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a very successful and fun party!
ReplyDeleteScary costumes and decorations! I'd gladly eat a couple of those treats though!
ReplyDeleteFun, we used to do Halloween parties when our kids were little with a couple of families, but we all moved back to the states, scattered across multiple parties and now we don't do anything.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are awesome! That's a lot of work but everything looks amazing. The food is so fun. Thanks for sharing your party. Happy Halloween!

Looks like a fun and festive celebration. As long as the food tastes good, most people are okay if it's not elaborate.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun party, and those cupcakes look so Yummy. I like the candles in the fire place with a few spiders. And the pumpkin soap dispenser is cute. The food sounds good, and I'm not one who follows recipes either. The girls just had a big pirate party, and they came up with so many creative ideas. You did a great job hosting this party, and that watermelon is something else. : )

I love everything about this post. The Halloween theme food of days gone by is really wonderful but so labor intensive -- well done on taking an easier route and spending the time on H's fab costume. He looks GREAT! Love the costumes. Love everything!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you and your family had a fun Halloween!
