A Little Mystery and a Rom Com
I am so happy I finished two more books.. this is going to be a good year for reading.. less travel -officially cancelled our spring break flight and hotels last week.. we knew it had to be done but were putting it off till the last week just in case this all turned out to be a nightmare and we just needed to wake up. Not the case :(
Synopsis: Coworkers Ruby and Harry are in love--but they're married to other people. They decide to tell their spouses that their marriages are over and to start their new lives together. Ruby, who has wanted to leave her controlling husband for a while, tells him she's leaving him and waits at the hotel where she and Harry are to meet. But Harry never shows up. Suddenly, Ruby's life has fallen apart, and she's lost everything. Harry won't answer her calls, and she's fired from her job. She finds a cheap apartment in a run-down part of town, all the while wondering what happened to Harry. Just as Ruby thinks she's hit rock bottom, strange and menacing things start to happen--someone is sneaking into her apartment, and someone is following her home late at night--and she is going to have to fight for her survival.
Thoughts: It took me a while to get into but I kept reading to find out what the hell happened to Harry. The initial chapters were written in Ruby's perspective and then a few chapters in a second character perspective is added.. and it's not Harry's. I went through the book pretty quickly.. I won't necessarily say I loved it but I did enjoy it, not to intense nor too light.
Synopsis: Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in…well, everything. Her identical twin sister Ami, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world, she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of Internet contests. Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man.
Olive braces herself to get through 24 hours of wedding hell before she can return to her comfortable, unlucky life. But when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning from eating bad shellfish, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. And now there’s an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii up for grabs.
Putting their mutual hatred aside for the sake of a free vacation, Olive and Ethan head for paradise, determined to avoid each other at all costs. But when Olive runs into her future boss, the little white lie she tells him is suddenly at risk to become a whole lot bigger. She and Ethan now have to pretend to be loving newlyweds, and her luck seems worse than ever. But the weird thing is that she doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, she feels kind of... lucky.
Thoughts: This is my first Christina Lauren book, they are in fact two authors Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings who co write books. I have another one of theirs on my TBR - Josh and Hazels Guide to Dating. This was your typical hate each other till they love each other rom com but it was such a laugh out loud fun read.
I'll need to check both of these out.

I've been wanting to read Christina Lauren books. Unhoneymooners seems like a good book to read to put me in a good mood!

I'm sorry about your spring break trip!! It's good you're getting lots of reading in. I haven't been able to concentrate on books lately!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading a lot, too. It's a good time to be able to do it. I hope your boys aren't too stir crazy yet. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your spring break plans :( I'm so sorry for all of the little ones who are having birthdays during this. And I'm really so sorry for all of the Seniors who won't be graduating on schedule because of this. What a mess! There are some perks, though, and getting to catch up on reading (well, between home-schooling sessions - how's that going?). Those two books both sound like fun reads and they'll go on my "To Read" list. Thank you for the reviews! Stay safe and stay healthy!

Had to cancel our Easter break too ... But you said it, it will be a great time for reading. I have definitely been reading more already. I haven't read any of these books, nor do I know the authors. Sometimes books are harder to get into, but I think I would have persevered with the first one as well! xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm far more intrigued by the first book, but find the co-author arrangement of the second book interesting.
ReplyDeleteA shame about having to cancel your trip. If only it really was just a nightmare.
Sorry you've had to cancel your travel plans. It's the same for us here. Still at least we've still got reading time! I'm intrigued to find out more about Ruby and Harry
ReplyDeleteThanks for these book recs! Perfect while we stay at home. Be safe my friend!

Now is the perfect time to escape into a good book!
ReplyDeleteSuch a bummer about your spring break plans- these times are something our generation hasn't seen before. It's wild and scary. But I'm glad you're getting more time to read! :) Such a relaxing hobby to get lost in a story.

Anyone who wants to read more should make the most of the time now. These both sound like they would be good breezy reads.

I'm making it a priority to read more today, I've been slipping with my reading goals because instead of reading I'm consuming news (not a good choice) however my knitting is going like blazes. The second book looks great!
