Savannah
Getting back to our road trip, which we started with a drive down to Charlotte and then a stop in Chimney Rock after which we headed down to Savannah. The next morning we started with a sublime breakfast at the Mirabelle Cafe. It was a beautiful day, we sat outside people watching and enjoying our food, the peach was everyone's favorite.
We didn't have a planned schedule, we hoped to just wander about enjoying the city and in all our enjoyment we ended up not taking many pictures. We also had a few hiccups. D had a bathroom accident, while in one of the squares something bit H's scalp and he ended up with so many itchy bumps in his hair which made him miserable.
We had delicious taco's at Tequila Town, we walked up and down river street, visited the Colonia Park cemetery, the boys enjoy Pete the Cat art work in a City Market gallery. We stood in a long long line to get a scoop of ice cream from the infamous Leopold's Ice Cream. Very good and such interesting flavors though the very next day we ate even better ice cream in Charleston.
We managed to have an almost good day with unfortunately far more downs than ups.. oh well.
So jealous that you went to Savannah. I have been wanting to go there so badly.
ReplyDeleteThe experience with kids was not as satisfying as I had hoped. Maybe need to go again sans little ones
DeleteSo fun! Love these pics :)

Sounds like a relaxing day, sometimes it is nice to have those where everything isn't planned. That dessert looks delicious! Bug bites and bathroom accidents are never fun, but sounds like you made the best of it!

There is something just so laid back about the south.. but when traveling young kids laid back is kind of hard to do.
DeleteGreat pic of you and the hubby:) And peach is my fave fruit, so that first pic...totally drooling!
ReplyDeleteIt was sooo good
DeleteLooks like so much fun except for the incident. Glad you all had a good time!

Thanks.. the incident was just so unexpected and making the trip back to the hotel to get cleaned up etc just threw us off our game a bit.
DeleteMmm, that cobbler-looking dessert looks good! Sorry there were bumps in this trip. My tween is allergic to bug bites so I understand the misery that could affect a child having to deal with that.
ReplyDeleteOh and thanks for the sewing compliment. Loved how you shared about the PJ pants; what a fun memory that is.
DeleteThe food has my mouth watering!
ReplyDeleteI love Savannah so much!! One of my favorite US cities! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
