Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia

Continuing with our Memorial Day weekend recap.. while we spent Friday in New York we chilled out at home on Saturday running errands, playing in the backyard.. On Sunday we headed to the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia. one of my favorite things about living in New Jersey is our proximity to so many major cities.  The last time we were there D was two and a half years old and he had had a blast.. It was so interesting to watch D there now and little H navigating his way through the museum his first time.

After the museum we were meeting up with my cousin and his wife for dinner.. but we were done a little earlier than planned and had an extra hour to kill so we headed to the nearby Smith Memorial Playground which we had visited earlier last year and had loved.

last time the park had been almost empty.. this time the park was over flowing with people.. the day was hot and after a few slides, swings and bounces we headed over to my cousins place.. to enjoy a delicious meal an accidentally partial baked pie lol and lots of fun and laughter..

    I love the children's museums! I really need to see if we have one nearby. I still have good memories from a trip I took as a kid to one. Love the before and afters too! What a fun...swing thing.

    That is possibly the BEST children's museum I've ever seen! SO rad. Love that you took some then and now pics...they grow so quickly!

    I would have adored that museum as a kid! Especially the little grocery section. I was obsessed, and still kind am...with kitschy fake food, haha.

    Sounds like such a dashing day. And what a cool museum for the little ones. Is it bad that I want to grab a trolley and play supermarket? Despite being able to actually shop in a real one? LOL!

Kitchen and Family Room: New Flooring

When the wall between our family room and kitchen see details here came down we had to deal with two different flooring, old carpet and newish laminate. The plan was to find the same laminate.. we found the box in the basement, how hard could it be? Harder than we thought.. that particular one had been discontinued.. and finding something similar was not an easy task..  Finding a flooring that was kind of close but not close enough would seem like a mistake.. so we decided to go different, this way it would seem like an intentional design choice.. I had always wanted a chocolaty dark floor.. The next thing to take into consideration was the transition between the two floors.. generally what is used it a T- Moulding, that strip you see in the above picture connecting the two floors together. D's Amazing Race Party

Last weekend our eldest turned 9.. and we threw him an amazing race birthday party! As with all the boys other parties.. I bought a plain white cake from Wegmans and let D decorate it himself. We had a total of nine kids.. they picked bandanna's out of a bag to create 3 teams. First Task Not all the kids knew each other.. they were too amped up with the idea of winning that they couldn't manage to calm down and read the clue.. so we had to really guide them through it.. they made mistakes and we let it go.. it seemed a tad chaotic..  Second Task I had 33 little medicine cups filled with M&M's and Goldfish crackers.. 6 of them had stickers on the bottom. The first two teams found the sticker in the first try... what are the odds!? And the third team had to eat a lot of snacks before they finally found their sticker. Third Task I bought 48 piece puzzles from the Dollar Tree. The boys took their time making
