Bethenny Frankel's Gift

As I announced last week... I have had the very good fortune to be included in an exclusive celebrity gifting. I have been choose as one of the handmade artists who will be able to send Bethenny Frankel something.


This has been an opportunity I have been waiting for and my name was finally picked and I was over joyed and then that joy turned into nervousness with the big question looming over me 'What to give?' So I held a little vote here on the blog.. it was too close to call and instead of picking from the six photographs I had originally narrowed it down to some suggested other photographs they liked and thought we better suited. My brain was all over the place.. 


This is what I finally settled upon. Gone. Why? I don't know. I slept on it and when I woke up this was the photograph that was on my mind. It was mounted over the weekend and I mailed it on Monday.. it should be in the company of all the other wonderful gifts by now..

On another note.. I sold Mary, Go Round to a fellow Garden Stater. Thank You!

Kitchen and Family Room: New Flooring

When the wall between our family room and kitchen see details here came down we had to deal with two different flooring, old carpet and newish laminate. The plan was to find the same laminate.. we found the box in the basement, how hard could it be? Harder than we thought.. that particular one had been discontinued.. and finding something similar was not an easy task..  Finding a flooring that was kind of close but not close enough would seem like a mistake.. so we decided to go different, this way it would seem like an intentional design choice.. I had always wanted a chocolaty dark floor.. The next thing to take into consideration was the transition between the two floors.. generally what is used it a T- Moulding, that strip you see in the above picture connecting the two floors together. D's Amazing Race Party

Last weekend our eldest turned 9.. and we threw him an amazing race birthday party! As with all the boys other parties.. I bought a plain white cake from Wegmans and let D decorate it himself. We had a total of nine kids.. they picked bandanna's out of a bag to create 3 teams. First Task Not all the kids knew each other.. they were too amped up with the idea of winning that they couldn't manage to calm down and read the clue.. so we had to really guide them through it.. they made mistakes and we let it go.. it seemed a tad chaotic..  Second Task I had 33 little medicine cups filled with M&M's and Goldfish crackers.. 6 of them had stickers on the bottom. The first two teams found the sticker in the first try... what are the odds!? And the third team had to eat a lot of snacks before they finally found their sticker. Third Task I bought 48 piece puzzles from the Dollar Tree. The boys took their time making
