The Kept Woman by Karin Slaughter Synopsis - With the discovery of a murder at an abandoned construction site, Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is brought in on a case that becomes much more dangerous when the dead man is identified as an ex-cop.  Studying the body, Sara Linton—the GBI’s newest medical examiner and Will’s lover—realizes that the extensive blood loss didn't belong to the corpse. Sure enough, bloody footprints leading away from the scene indicate there is another victim—a woman—who has vanished . . . and who will die soon if she isn’t found.  But the worst is yet to come. Evidence soon links Will’s troubled past to the case . . . and the consequences will tear through his life with the force of a tornado, wreaking havoc for Will and everyone around him, including his colleagues, family, friends—and even the suspects he pursues. My Thoughts - This was my sixth Karin Slaughter book, all part of the Will Trent series. I don't thi

This was a pretty decent year of reading.. not my best I read and finished 10 books.. only -_- 1. The Stranger You Know by Jane Casey -  He meets women. He gains their trust. He kills them. That's all London police detective Maeve Kerrigan knows about the man she is hunting. Three women have been strangled in their homes, and it appears to be the work of the same sadistic killer.  Then the evidence starts to point to a shocking suspect: DCI Josh Derwent, Maeve's partner on the police force.  A good thriller.. not a must read but kept me interested till the the end 2. Fallen by Karin Slaughter -  There's no police training stronger than a cop's instinct. Faith Mitchell's mother isn't answering her phone. Her front door is open. There's a bloodstain above the knob. Her infant daughter is hidden in a shed behind the house. All that the Georgia Bureau of Investigations taught Faith Mitchell goes out the window when she charges into her mother's ho

and we are already nearing the end of January.. what did we accomplish this month? so much.. and a whole lotta nothing. D finished reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.. and has moved on to James and the Giant Peach. Over the weekend we binged on the sinfully decedent Godiva Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory while watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie, the Gene Wilder one of course! We also discovered this month that D got accepted to an advance reading and advanced math class!! This deserves some celebrating and we have the perfect reward in mind.. Did you know there is a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical on Broadway?! Silly hat day in school H has some skills of his own.. he is talking up a storm! He is quick witted and has a clever reply to anything we throw at him. While mostly amusing it get's difficult to keep a straight face when trying to tell him no! Which is a lot.. he is very fiery strong willed child.  With D growing in

1. Shadow of The Wind by  Carlos Ruiz Zafón - Barcelona, 1945: Daniel, an antiquarian book dealer’s son discovered a mysterious book entitled The Shadow of the Wind, by one Julián Carax. But when he sets out to find the author’s other works, he makes a shocking discovery: someone has been systematically destroying every copy of every book Carax has written. In fact, Daniel may have the last of Carax’s books in existence. Soon Daniel’s seemingly innocent quest opens a door into one of Barcelona’s darkest secrets, an epic story of murder, madness, and doomed love. It started out bit slow and I wondered where it was going.. but once it picked up momentum this book was amazing.. it was crazy dramatic, lost loves, incest, teenage pregnancies and more crazy stuff but so much fun. This book was quite a surprise and highly recommended! 2. A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin - This is the second installment of the Game of Thrones series. At a certain time each year I start to y

Every two weeks we hit the library.. bring home a stack of books to read through before bedtime. A few weeks ago we read The Dancing Clock a story based on the Delacorte Musical Clock in Central Park near the Central Park Zoo. I told D that the clock was near by, we had seen it before.. walked by it a few times. He didn't remember.. nor did he believe me. So obviously this called for a field trip! And while we were making the trip to Central Park I decided D was also old enough for a visit to the Museum of Natural History..  after the museum we took a stroll through Central Park.. it was actually less of a stroll and more of a dragging D through the park with the promise of ice cream.. the poor child was tired and the promise of ice cream was the only thing keeping him going.. at one point he walked shoe less and I even had to carry him for some of the stretch.. it was quiet an adventure. Once we found ice cream we found a nice shady spot to sit and took a sweet break.
