A Castle and Some Art
It was our fourth day in Denmark and our last with a car and so we headed north. Our first stop was Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerod just 30 minutes away from Copenhagen. It was the royal residence for King Christian IV in the early 17th century.
It was a small and beautiful castle which we all enjoyed walking through.. and then outside was a small lake, ponds, fountains and beautiful gardens that the boys really enjoyed running through.
Our next stop was Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk.
The above was a mixed media piece called Gleaming Lights of the Soul by Yayoi Kusama. There was a small line, a few people were allowed to enter the room at a time. We were given a minute in the room. It was a dark room filled with water the walls and ceilings were mirrors. We walked out onto a platform. The room was full of tiny lights. The colors changing.. it was simply sublime. This is one of the museum's few permanent installation.
We took a break from experiencing all the art.. they had a room full of early sketches made by Picasso before he became Picasso.. so interesting.. and I loved watching D just soak it all up... I digress.. we took a break and decided to make some art instead..
Then we headed out to the extensive grounds dotted with sculptures and a stunning view
We were back in Copenhagen before dinner.. he had some Italian food and ended the night with the best cheesecake in Denmark! The pistachio was divine.
