Caged In - I have a particular fondness for this photograph because it was a photograph I took when I was still in college, it was a photograph I took with my film camera, one that I processed myself in the dark room. Now all m photographs are taken with a DSLR and I haven't set foot in a dark room in eight years! This is a cross processed photograph of a stores steel shutters. Cross processing is the procedure of deliberately processing photographic film in a chemical solution intended for a different type of film which results in increased contrast and stronger colors. This photograph was taken in Karachi, Pakistan.

I remember using dark rooms in high school for photography. I had a love hate relationship with them. They were perfect for gossiping in with friends and passing time, it was also amazing watching an image form after placing paper into the chemical bath. It was also too time consuming for my impatient self lol.

Beautiful shot! I love the colors. Isn't it amazing how far things have come in the realm of photography (anything tech really). Do you prefer the digital work or the manual processing?

Cool shot! And thanks for telling a bit about the proces. In school we dabbled a bit in processing, but we had a very strict teacher, so there was no room for experimenting. I would have loved trying things out and seeing where those adventures would have taken me. Sometimes doing things not the way they're supposed to be can give really cool results!

Beautiful photo! Sometimes the film cameras seem to capture just the perfect image. And there's something about developing in a dark room that really seems fun! I haven't done it before, but I've always wanted to. My daughter is in a photog class right now, and she did it. =0)

Thank you.. Digital. It is faster and easier and less wasteful. I take a few hundred pictures when I travel and shot.. Developing all those shots in the darkroom to find the handful of photographs I actually like.. Would take.. I can't even do the math!

When the wall between our family room and kitchen see details here came down we had to deal with two different flooring, old carpet and newish laminate. The plan was to find the same laminate.. we found the box in the basement, how hard could it be? Harder than we thought.. that particular one had been discontinued.. and finding something similar was not an easy task..  Finding a flooring that was kind of close but not close enough would seem like a mistake.. so we decided to go different, this way it would seem like an intentional design choice.. I had always wanted a chocolaty dark floor.. D's Amazing Race Party

Last weekend our eldest turned 9.. and we threw him an amazing race birthday party! As with all the boys other parties.. I bought a plain white cake from Wegmans and let D decorate it himself. We had a total of nine kids.. they picked bandanna's out of a bag to create 3 teams. First Task Not all the kids knew each other.. they were too amped up with the idea of winning that they couldn't manage to calm down and read the clue.. so we had to really guide them through it.. they made mistakes and we let it go.. it seemed a tad chaotic..  Second Task I had 33 little medicine cups filled with M&M's and Goldfish crackers.. 6 of them had stickers on the bottom. The first two teams found the sticker in the first try... what are the odds!? And the third team had to eat a lot of snacks before they finally found their sticker.
